Yes the mindless zombies have elected one of their own to be in charge! That's reason alone for smart people to arm themselves!

Too many gun deaths? Answer - MORE GUNS!!!

Duh!
Why do you keep focusing on "gun deaths" ??? What about the people that get murdered in other ways ? Do those not count ? Why don't we focus on "violence" in general ? Why not focus on bad people and people that have mental health issues ? That is the problem... why not focus on that ? Why does the sheeple of this country just gloss over those issues and focus on the guns ? Seen the rise in stabbings in the past month ? Do those victims not count ? Instead the sheeple stick their heads in the sand and want to feel all warm and fuzzy as long as there is a push to get those evil guns off the streets..as if it would happen everything would be lollipops and candy canes. Are sheeple really that clueless ? We don't want to focus on the main problem probably because it won't be very PC, the drug companies would loose money and sheeple just won't like the answers they get.
And the answer isn't "more guns" the answer is more awarness, more training and less fear. Maybe you should consider it..the life you save just might be your own.

It's simple.

Back before we drove cars, there were no vehicular fatalities.

The more cars = the more road deaths.

Guns are no different. It's 1+1=2.

The "day care" guns may be "hysteria" as yet but let's wait for the first massacre in a Day Care and the bright lights of the US will apply their "cure" and yes indeed, guns will be in day care.

Stupid. No beyond stupid, evil and ugly.
Again you are so wrong.
We have more firearms now and regardless of what the media states, less deaths.
Same as vehicle fatalities, we have more on the road and less fatalities due to higher safety standards and more awareness.
Take the blinders off and look around , do more research and just stop being so afraid that it pigeon holes you into the close minded situation you are in.

This has probably been mentioned previously (I'm not reading 8 pages of this to find out) but I think it's worth saying again if it has. Last week a student slashed and stabbed others in a school. A teenage girl was stabbed/slashed by someone she turned down for a date to the prom. No guns. When are we as a population going to stop looking at the tools of these crimes and start looking at the people doing them? We'll have to wait until (if) Diane Sawyer or Matt Lauer tell us if their was any psych problems in these latest tragedies. How about the judicial do something to the perpetrators instead of offering and bowing to excuses. Only a person hiding from reality thinks that Ft Hood #1 was "workplace violence".

Oh like a "strawman" type argument? The OP presenting something so out of whack and hyped up as to distract from the actual debate? So crazy that even those with a legitimate mainstream gun-control argument have difficulty in defending? Maybe he was actually pro-gun rights?
Interesting theory, but I think he was just loony...we will never know. The OP has gotten the Ban Hammer.

Actually, the OP was noting the passing of the ridiculous legislation in Georgia, and simply stating the obvious: more guns in more places means more gun deaths.

Regardless, trying to educate people on a public forum such as this is very difficult. Both sides dig in and spew rhetoric without really knowing what they are talking about.

The better route for those who wish to reduce gun violence is America is to join the Everytown for Gun Safety Group Everytown for Gun Safety | The Movement to End Gun Violence . This group will seek to counter the NRA's use of member dues to influence politicians which personally benefit from retaining gun manufacturers in their districts' without regard for the damage that the product wreaks on the people. After a few months there are 1.5 million members signed up versus the 5 million NRA members. Everytowmn can quickly overcome the tiny NRA lobby both in membership and in resources. Legislators who are shut off from the gun gravy train will quickly change their tune once the money dries up.

Fight fire with fire. It is sad that it has to come to this, but is there a better way to get the message out that guns kill and have no place in a modern society?

Yeah. The internet attracts the extremists on both sides of the issue. I try to stay out of the P&C forum but it gets really crazy in there. There is a good debate here, but I still say the OP started it on the wrong foot and if anything distracted from the point he was trying to get across.

.....
Correlation does not equal causation: we have more firearms now, and also more obesity and smartphones.

If 3/4 of all gun deaths are suicide in this country, Im sure they can find something else besides a gun. Yet the result will still be same. So what have we accomplished??
