There is always going to be racism if black people continually consider themselves separate from being "Americans". Why do they do that? I just don't get it. Why be some separate group of people that all were born and live in America? Is it just simply the color of one's skin? I know COUNTLESS so-called African-Americans and to me they are American, not some separate group. Goodness, is this 1960 still?

Looking back on segregation during those times, yes it was mistreatment, but segregation in these times would be much different. For the record, I am not advocating segregation, I just don't see how you can assume that segregation in modern times would be the same as it was 60 years ago. I think that just lacks understanding of what times were like then.

My position is I do not agree with him. You can't let one man cloud your judgment over a whole race of people. At the same time, trying to compare what Larry Johnson said to Donald Sterling is ridiculous. Segregation isn't the same as racism. Both have a negative connotation with them, but who would be oppressed by having a all-black or all-white league? Again the comment is stupid but it's not on the same level as Sterling, whom you keep defending, do not acknowledge his wrongdoing here, but then you dig up as many negative articles on black athletes as you can find related to this situation. It appears as though you have a very strange point of view for someone that is supposed to be about pointing out hypocrisy.

We don't do it. Know anything about American history?

To some, it might as well be. Or 1860.

Until all Americans see all Americans as being exactly the same - this is how it's going to be.

That means you, and me, and the rest of America, should be willing to accept any other American as a neighbor, business partner, schoolmate, coworker, date, lover, spouse, son- or daughter-in-law, family member. Until that happens, you will still be asking that same question on the Internet.

Taking a league who's diversity was built on the back's of those willing to lay down their life and then entertaining the idea of breaking it apart to create a "one race" league?

Yeah - that's not on the same level of Sterling being prejudice about who his GF is pictured with.

Please spare us...

And no - I have dug up nothing on black athletes. The two news stories I posted happened within the last 2-3 days.

Clearly the OP is upset about his buddy Donald Sterling getting trashed by the media and wants to bring up examples of black people being racist in order to, what, save face for whites? Yeah I don't think most logical people are going to argue the point that ANYONE can be racist. You bringing up Johnson or Shaq doing stupid things isn't going to make people go "oh yeah, these black guys are terrible and Sterling is a good dude after all."

Are you suggesting that the black players in the Negro leagues of old were treated the same as white players? Venues, pay, respect?

Come on.

I think the idea is stupid but I hate the knee jerk racist and juvenile response even more.

I think most people could care less. The media loves this kind of crap though. I think what Larry Johnson said was pretty horrible and it is one of the reasons some people have this big divide when it comes to race. Do you think Larry helped matters? Hardly! He sounds like an idiot if you ask me. Just because someone is racist, doesn't mean everyone is. Larry comes off as a very racist person himself to be honest.

If that is the only thing you got out of the 15 minute video that he said wrong, then you are truly clueless, delusional or you are just straight up lying to yourself. He said way, way more than just not having her taking pictures with Magic.

I think I have made my point. You can't lead a horse to water.

That's a nice narrative.

As myself and other have said repeatedly - PLEASE quote the parts of the tape that you are referring to. You can't just insert your own thoughts and sentences into what was said.
