Spanish children may soon be required to help out with housework, under a draft law that has been approved by parliament.
The measure, which would be part of a wider child protection law, says that children under the age of 18 have an obligation to participate in all areas of family life.
Talk about the government being involved in the family.
At first I thought a politician got mad at his kids for not doing housework. Then I read that all children are "required to participate in all household tasks regardless of age and gender." That tells me the government doesn't want double standards and feels all children should learn all skills regardless of gender---for example, boys should learn how to cook and girls should learn how to mow lawns.
But do they plan to incarcerate kids who don't do housework? Or the parents for not making them?

Said no sanctions have been mentioned, I'd expect it'd be considered more of a guideline than a strict law, or then the sanctions would be involvement with child services to reinforce the 'rules'
