I saw this on the news the other day. What a cat! That's a cat I'd like to have a beer with!

I watched the video several times and the cat was clearly being protective. He continued to circle the area after chasing the dog off and even went back to check on the boy, then circles the area again to make sure the dog is gone.

Cool cat, but I am wondering where the mother was running to after she checked on the child. She left him there, if only briefly, when she should have scooped the child up in her arms instead of leaving the child to get up and flee on his own. I guess she was checking to see where the dog was; however, for all she knew the dog was on its way back to the child from another direction that she couldn't see. As a mother she no doubt saw her error when she watched the video afterwards.

I am very glad they have such a protective and alert cat that was allowed to be outside with them. And of course I am very, very happy the child is o.k.

Default Hero Family Cat Saves Little Boy From Viscious Dog Attack

This story is incredible !!!

A 4 year old boy was viciously attacked by a huge neighborhood dog, and the family cat came to the rescue and attacked the dog and chased it away.

The entire video of the dog attack was captured on the home's security cameras.

The video shows the injuries the boy suffered, so be prepared for seeing these wounds.

This video is so amazing it has gone viral!

Good for the cat. Though (the vast majority of) dogs are far more loyal and, obviously, far better and more able protectors.

Yup, not something you usually see from family cats.

That kitty is something special.

Yes, I find this really bizarre. I don't know if the little trike the kid was riding kind of freaked out the dog or what. Maybe he didn't even realize that was a child he was attacking.

My dogs really freak out at kids on skateboards, otherwise they are really calm.

But thank god for the cat, what a protector!
