I think that everyone can understand the importance of net neutrality unless you don't remember how the much the internet sucked when the choices were Prodigy and AOL. The internet should be regulated as a utility. If you are really for a free market then I don't understand how you can oppose neutrality.
So if you support net neutrality, now it is time to let the powers that be know it.

Yes but with net neutrality, one has far more chat rooms, webcams, and other sundry MILF points of access. Now if you hope to have your MILF webcam videos slowed down to 56k (and I'm being generous) please don't give net neutrality a second of thought.
I was online prior to AOL and Prodigy dialing in to BBS sites. Forest service, and business had servers you could dial into. This is really what AOL was until html was slowly introduced, and you accessed it through a special window. Netscape, and Internet Explorer were some of the first browsers to interpret html. It has exploded from there.
the old days of aol were more of a hassle than anything else. i was a kid in the late 90's so i didn't have the luxury of trying to pick up women from those chatrooms as these other tools, er uhm trolls, i mean "others".
what i hated most was the dial-up. every time a call would come in on the landline, i would get booted
i did have some fun trolling those horny idiots in those chat rooms though.
i remember receiving those 400 free hours, 600 free hours of aol cds in the mail. now that i didn't mind.

OP, I have already signed a couple of those petitions. I will look into the ones I haven't. I also telephoned the FCC. The phone number for Chairman Tom Wheeler's office is: 1-202-418-1000. People should make their thoughts known there.
Personally, I think the early supporters of net neutrality really botched the job they set out to do. Most Americans, even ones who would support the practice, still have no idea what the term "net neutrality" means. They didn't jump on a bandwagon they didn't understand and seemed to have nothing to do with their daily lives. But, of course, I still support net neutrality, even as I suspect we are going to lose this fight. The way I look at it, the 1% didn't build the Internet and have to right to steal it now that it is of crucial importance to the world. But they will try to ... and judging on past outcomes, they will probably succeed.

why this was so different was this- this was new, brand new way to communicate sending emails,,,,
many of us grew up as teenagers if we wanted to ask a girl out- we had to use the only rotary phone in the house- call the girl - good chance her dad would answer, and say she was too busy to talk- and dont call again.
all the sudden we could flirt with woman, joke around, behind a screen name, and she was having fun too, because of the no threat factor- its just a screen name.. a guy could be flirtatious without getting slapped.
and yeah, it doesnt seem like a big deal today,,,, because now you can text so easily, but back then, it was a big deal..
and it chatrooms, it was interesting, because of anonymity, people would share stuff, they'd never would with a "stranger" in im's
as one poster said, the immature kid factor wasnt a problem-(because you had to pay, and it was new) go on youtube and look at the comments/posts and its filled with the kiddie factor- teenagers writing the dumbest most outragious things just to inflame others.
