If you haven't noticed, it's corporations that are in cahoots with the government. Oil companies, agribusiness, etc. get huge government subsidies. Politicians are bought and sold with campaign contributions. Is this news to anyone?

Reagan started pulling the rug out from unions and that process continues to this day.

Soldiers are sent to war to protect the interests of big business. How many good Marines died or were maimed in Iraq for Halliburton's bottom line?

Most Marines can put two and two together. I urge you to think through what you are posting. It smacks of corporate propaganda.

What were the pensions like back then, eh?
Solders pensions existed LOOOONG before unions, and truth be told, while they were still on the low side, they (here in America) were often BETTER (proportionally) to today!

And no, I'm self employed, although I have the pension income also.
(pension would be enough if I lived in a cheap place, ate bad food, and never did anything.... Oh, and didn't pay for my medical bills like I'm about to in this Dr office I'm sitting in for my service connected injury.)
-your union boys want to get on that.... Not to mention the VA and fix things... THEN you'll get my attention.

we actually agree about much of this, so I have a question for you: keeping in mind the passage in bold (you are agreeing/proclaiming that "big business" and government are in cahoots to maintain the status quo):

WHY are you looking to GOVERNMENT (an active participaint according to your admition) to change things!!!!!??????!!!!!

Because what unions that do still exist do not cover minimum wage workers.

But mainly because government is us, our collective rules for engagement. When we do away with rules regulating financial dealings, the rich run the table.

Harry Reid, is that you? Since only 19% of McDonald's restaurants are owned by the company, with the rest being franchises, the "secret report" really doesn't mean much. Did the report ask all of the franchisee owners? Does the report even exist? I can't stand lies!

Labor pays many protesters at various picket lines and rally's ... to participate. They've done that for many years. Management pays people to act similarly, to show up at plan and zoning meetings, counter-picket, etc. None of this should come as a surprise to anyone.

I lost all respect for US unions when they kept backing the dems after they got thrown under the bus by NAFTA.

If your own leadership keeps handing your dues to the people that fudged ya.....maybe you need some new leaders?

You do realize it was HW Bush who pushed for NAFTA?

Following diplomatic negotiations dating back to 1986 among the three nations, the leaders met in San Antonio, Texas, on December 17, 1992, to sign NAFTA. U.S. President George H. W. Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mexican President Carlos Salinas, each responsible for spearheading and promoting the agreement, ceremonially signed it. The signed agreement then needed to be authorized by each nation's legislative or parliamentary branch.

North American Free Trade Agreement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Why be partisan over such an issue? Would your favorite party have stopped globalization? What action did they take during their reign to stop it? Unions support Democrats typically, because they stand up for working class rights that some Republicans want to take away. Paul Ryan has talked about repealing overtime laws. do you support this? My union supported GW Bush in the 04 election cycle!

McDonald's is a big corp and of course people would be scared to protest and lose their jobs.

I can't figure out the REAL goal of this $15 min. wage. It has come out of nowhere and is and EXTREME jump from the FEDERAL min. wage now.

As far as Sarah Palin, I thinked the MILLIONS she has made from book sales and speeches would make her problems bearable! Don't you think?

Accountants after 4 years of college and a quarter million dollars get paid $20/hour. Where do they go to get their raise to $30? Any busses to take them to PWC headquarters?

Are you saying accountants should be paid more? Any idiot can sit on their butt and enter numbers into a calculator. We need the right wing race to the bottom for labor to win. No one who works for a pay check is worth more than minimum wage. Construction workers, burger flippers, and labor in general is worthless and don't have any value in our society according to some. I personally see value in labor, and believe anyone who works should not have to be dependent on government assistance. Of course this ideal is labeled with petty names like socialist, and told they support wealth redistribution which is really an excuse for greed!
