It's also a very frightening thing for some anonymous person to say. This is basically what government wants these crazed loner killer crimes to cause - idiots calling for individualists to be locked up.

I wonder if Ih2puo ever read "1984?" Or watched "THX1199?" These works show what can happen if government is allowed by the people to provide more security in exchange for taking more of our freedoms.

Whatever you post on internet, as Snowden showed, is available for the NSA to read. And someone who knows you can easily set you up as if you are a bad person wishing violence on someone else, and that would be all that it takes for the government to lock you up.

Not a future I want.

In addition like the other posters said, heinous homicides have occurred for centuries. You know who the biggest killer is? Government!!!!!

University of Hawaii put up a site explaining 262 million people were killed by governments in the 20th century.

20th Century Democide

You know the best solution? Each of us should carry. An armed society is a polite society. In the 40s and 50s it was not uncommon for high schools to have rifle shooting classes and boys bring their guns to school so that after school they could shoot game on the way home.

Grow a pair and be proactive. Don't expect the State to provide your security. They won't.

Thats the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. Go stand in the corner and think about what you just said. Might as well go round up all the tattooed gangster-looking young black men and lock them up, since their "kind" are responsible for so much violence and crime. Doesn't matter that they haven't done anything...right?

Answer the question though? Do you believe selling weapons without background checks to felons in 33 states is right? It's a simple question that you keep avoiding.
Do I believe in private sales without background checks, YES, it is a private sale and is not subject to the same rules as buying from a dealer.
Do I believe in selling to a felon, NO, but, you take someone at their word.

I have cancelled deals because I did not feel right about the buyer. I have a idea, lets tattoo a big "F" on their foreheads.

should a felon in possession of a gun go to jail, YES,

It is a slippery slope, but there are still parts of this country where you take a man at his word and if you ask if they are a resident of your state, and are they a felon, if they yes and no, then you take him at his word. It is the same as when you sell a car, does he have insurance and a license ?

I would like to see where you came up with loughner was part of the right, they tried that when it first happened, and after it came out that he had worked to get giffords elected and he was a democrat, they never brought up his leaning again.

I find it disturbing to read what some regulars have posted on forums that are against marriage. I don't know if it's irrational hate or if it's hidden homosexual preferences on their part. But a few of them seem to be way over the deep end. I personally am single and don't hate women. I lived with a wonderful woman for a few years but we had different career paths.

Also 22 years old is very young to be so obsessed with "not getting any." There are probably social conservative young guys who are in their mid 20s who are virgins but don't shoot up or hate women.

Like I just posted, we must become a society of people who provide our own security and not be passive or complacent. I'm not sure if it would have kept his three roommates from being stabbed - or maybe it would. If they always carried in the house they lived in. This won't stop kooks from killing, but it will stop them from mass killings. Police are not everywhere. The sobering fact is that the police usually show up after the crime has been done. It's up to you.

Yes I work in California and have an Arizona residence. The gun control laws in California are such that I don't want to deal with them. I keep all my firearms in Arizona. But whenever I go back home to Arizona I feel far safer and I feel as though I'm in a more polite society of more responsible adults who are realistic about having to provide their own security.

A very good dance around the issue. Straw purchases at FFL's that end up in the hands of felons that is a problem you seem to approve of. Personally, I think gun shows should be 100% background check. The NRA agreed and then backed out.

As for Loughner, only he knows and maybe he'll say one day. The right says he's left, and left says right.

Honestly, this thread topic could benefit from two things. Nationwide gun laws similar to Canada, and greater emphasis on mental health issues. When a parent calls and nothing is done it is broken.

As for your slanderous comments about California. AZ gets $1.19 for every tax dollar it pays. California get 78 cents for every one, so it pays for your states perceived freedom. The gracious thing would be too tone down your rhetoric considering it's a welfare state.

Yep and every single gun owner bleating about their rights would be FORCED to review their callous attitude if their own children become victims of a loser with a gun.

I think people should stop faux diagnosing these killer losers with the various mental illness labels. When you are quick to do such, what ends up happening is people feeling sorry for them and saying they didn't stand a chance. There are just evil people in this world -point blank.

+1.

What's most disturbing is this freaks attitude is replicated day in, day out on the relationships forum.

Women are money hungry leeches.

These young men seem ENTITLED in a way no other young men have felt before.

Narcissists, selfish beyond belief, failures in life - angry little basement babies venting their virginity on the world's women like it's OUR fault.

There are plenty of women who will give you sex guys. They will openly ask for your money, and if you give to them, they perform. No one's hurt, it's all above board, you get what you pay for which is apparently of utmost importance to these women haters.

They're called PROSTITUTES and I suggest every scared wierd little guy seriously looks into investing in one rather than a semi-automatic weapon.

Many guys like him are alone only because they want some 9 or 10 girl. This guy wanted a gorgeous blonde sorority girl, most people know who is realistic for them and who isn't, and stay based in reality when dating. But I think many guys today watch so much porn and see so many gorgeous girls with the average guy in movies, that they start to think they deserve that type of girl, that it's every guy's birthright or something to be with a beautiful girl. I think with a lot of "lonely" guys, if they were more realistic and focused on girls they actually had a chance with rather than spending all of freshman and sophomore years pining with their unrequited crush on the head cheerleader, they wouldn't be so lonely.

His second wife clearly didn't really care for the kid and even kicked him out of the house when he was 18. His father basically chose his second wife over his son when he sided with his stepmother on kicking him out; and I can sympathize with the sense of betrayal that he felt.

His mother after the divorce always seemed to have rich white boyfriends who treated her with fancy things (one of them even gave a CAR as a gift to him). I don't think it takes much extrapolation to make educated guesses on what type of people they were.

He is clearly a very disturbed individual but I don't see any evidence to think that he is so mentally impaired as to provide a completely unreliable account of his life.
Everyone want to "make it big", it's called ambition. Having money, making money, having things, etc. is not a problem or a sign of bad parenting or something negative as you seem to want to make it out to be. Dirt poor with no shoes, this kid would still have been a nut job and focused on something to the extreme.

The boy was clearly lost in his idea of what money could do, he spells that out with his attempts to win the lottery and solve all his personal problems with friends, girls, sex, etc. I don't see that coming from parents just because they had some money. They didn't have as much as many people he knew.
