This is truly horrible but we are ill equipped to influence events in India. We should focus on what can be accomplished here like keeping guns out of the hands of the insane.

When you consider the millions of people in India many of whom are poor they actually have a low crime rate compared to say Detroit or Chicago.
The saddest thing about India is the caste sytem. If you are poor you have ZERO chance of ever doing anything. You just wait until the next life.

You hear about all these crimes going on against women all over the world the Democrats have a lot of nerve saying the Republicans are waging a war on women.

India's version of affirmative action sets aside places in university and jobs for those in the "Scheduled Castes". It is as controversial there as Affirmative Action is here.

Only in very rural areas. Most of India does not acknowledge the caste system.

India's crime and rape rate is much lower than many parts of the US as you suggest. But India has the problem of crimes on humanity. In the US, Americans rape women several times more than in India. But they rarely hang their victims.

The caste system in India is only valid in rural, uneducated, and remote areas. It has not been common since colonial times. That's similar to how it is in the US. The rural uneducated areas in the US have significant problems as well.

I am indian and let me tell you, being indian is actually a great thing. we have beautiful people and we have ugly people. just like any race. I for 1 am a great person, have great friends, and i take care of every one that is in my life and i am glad to do it, and for that i have people that love me around me. also, indian parents are one of the best parents you can have. sometimes they can be really strict, but they will take care of you no matter what, and they will buy you what ever it is that you need. as long as your not a selfish ****head. Also, we all have great jobs, lots of money and a family that we all love and take care off.
