As with the other 20 or so attempts that have occurred since 1978, I have hoped that this one too falls short of a victory. 99% of the people that are rooting for California Chrome to prevail will quickly forget what happens one way or the other and frankly don't deserve to witness a Triple Crown winner. CC's legacy and value is set for life in any case and his people will have to be satisfied with a $30 million horse and $1 - $2 million yearly stud fees as a Derby-Preakness winner. Meanwhile, "Junior" will be happy with an extra serving of sweet feed either way.

but in truth, I know as with all the other attempts I've watched in the past 36 years, when they round that last turn and dig for the finish line, I will be unavoidably rooting for Chrome to bring it on home.

bet show, may even pay more than a win if the 2nd and 3rd PP odds fail to deliver.

I hope most of all for a safe race for all the horses and riders.
This would only be possible if there was a bridgejumper and another horse other than CC had the majority of the show pool and did not finish in the top 3. If there is a bridgejumper, it will be for CC to get the guaranteed 5% return- if that's the case, I'd bet against CC in the show pool. CC will have the most money bet on him in the WPS pools.

I'd love to see him finish out of the money Saturday.
Tonight I placed a bet on Commanding Curve, WPS with extra show money.

I haven't been right in the last two races betting against Chrome, but I'll continue my bet only much smaller.

$6 win on #5 ......Ride on Curlin
$6 exacta on #5 and # 2 ( California Chrome ) to finish 1,2 in that order.
