Wow, nobody can get it done. Affirmed is still the true champion.

IMO......horses have been to go as they can.

The races change.....I do not see a triple crowd winner again.

I'm sad. I iiked that his owners aren't super-rich racing blue bloods but working people. Oh, well, at least he made the Belmont fun to watch. I probably wouldn't have even known it was on let alone watched it if not for him.

It is my understanding they used to have to compete in the Derby and Preakness to run the Belmont. The rule was changed and all 3 horses ahead of Chrome were fresh. He didn't come across well, but has a point.

Probably a bit of both. Can't blame him for being emotional right now, he missed a chance for racing immortality for he and CC. It must be crushingly disappointing. Sounds like what he was saying makes sense, though. I didn't realize they bring in ringers who are fresh. If the K. Derby is the best 20 horses there are, maybe the Triple Crown should be the horse who can beat the best 3 times.

That makes sense, I'm not expert in these things but I agree that horses running in Belmont for the main race should have to compete in all three, instead of racing one and then taking off the next to rest up (Kentucky and then Preakness). Other horses should run in other side races.

In a way he is right. Its a grueling thing to race all three races. A horse that isn't at top can stay out then enter Belmont and have much better chance. Two strongest houses according to experts were Chrome and Wicked Strange. But in another way the tripe crown winner has to be far superior to take on all comers.
