I'm not necessarily a believer, but at least I understand the difference between a medium and a fortune teller.

Mediums claim to be able to serve as an intermediary between the physical world and the spiritual world (the living and the dead). Mediums do not claim to know the future.

The thing that always amazes me is that when these mediums tell the bereaved what their loved one said is that it's always something like "I don't want you to worry, it's beautiful here, I'm with Grandma/Uncle Phil/Fido."

Seems strange that no one ever says, "It's hot here! I want to come back!"

Delahanty.. well said.
This is the reason why my television is basically just collecting dust @ this point.. Shows that prey on, or speak to, those who are suffering, or stupid. Shows like Springer & Maury that showcase people in the midst of personal (& often immoral) crises. Sadistic & moronic audiences that cheer, and jump up & down when they learn about infidelities and ironic baby-daddy endings.
I realize some guests on reality shows & daytime talk are frauds, or actors.. but in my opinion, it still highlights and defines the base give-and-take between modern 'reality' Tv programming & the people still enjoying it. And it seems to have taken over tv.. peace.

You are right about these doom and gloom shows. Some people seem to delight in other people's suffering. When I channel surf and run into those I wonder about the audiences. The are usually young and male and very loud and eager to boo and hiss. of course they are directed to do this but do they realize or even care how low life they appear to others. And who in their right mind would want to be on Murray or Springer? These things have a way of following you for a very long time.

I wonder if there will now also be lawsuits against magicians for not really sawing a lady in half.

Actually, Barnum didn't say it. David Hannum did, in reference to Barnum after Barnum copied Hannum's "Cardiff Giant" and claimed that he had the real one and Hannum's was a fake. When Hannum sued Barnum for calling is 'Giant' a fake, the original perpetrator of the fraud (who sold it to Hannum) fessed up and the suit was thrown out, because it *was*, in fact, a fake.

It is amazing, but religion has had thousands of years of of practice (through trial and error) to be able to manipulate mankind. Those that have inherited it know exactly what men and women want to hear: "Gotta have faith".

It's entertainment, plain and simple. Aren't all realities shows a joke? I cannot understand why anyone would watch the Kardasians. At least LLM is entertaining and provides some humor, the Kardasians are pathetic.
