Germany’s best-selling sports car in March was… the Mustang?

The sixth-generation Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] Mustang has proven a hit in Europe since going on sale last summer.

Even in Germany, home to a diverse range of sports models, the Mustang is selling like hotcakes. There, it is priced from 38,000 euros (approximately $43,290) and available only with the turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder and 5.0-liter V-8 options.

Who finds it ironic?

Not really...the AMG series Mercedes', M-Series BMW's, sporty Audi's are very expensive, and in general these cars aren't a big deal. Mercedes are taxis over there. The cops drive BMW's. A lot of these luxury cars has some many unnecessary amendities that jack up the price...the again my dream car is this bad boy from England (oh man if I won the lottery I'd buy a place in England just to get this car because they don't sell it in the U.S.) which is a tiny fortune, but so incredible...

Anyways, with the Mustang they get performance without the price tag.

Mustang is not a sports car. Maybe the GT-350. But not the models indicated.

They only like it because it is "different".

I wonder if it's about the price for performance? Some car magazines have tested it against BMW M series coupe and said it matched or beat (depending on the magazine reviewer) the BMW.

Get an Estate that will provide you enough land to build your own track so you can really be able to play with it. 220 MPH top end? One wrong move and you can kiss your fanny goodbye, even at half that speed.

There is really no point to having a $ 285,347.00 USD car that can do that speed when you have no where you can actually use that speed.

My dream would be a refurbished 1969 Mustang Mach I. A car you can drive into a telephone pole at 65 MPH and walk away with a bent frame and a cracked block, lol.

At about 7 MPG, you still need plenty of cash - for fuel.

Correct, Mustang's are considered "sporty", not "sports"

2 seats too many to be considered a true sports car. You can remove the rear seat, but doesn't mean it's still not a 2+2 car.

I'd still take one

Theyre probably tired of their boring, overpriced, stale BMW/Audi/Benz. Cant say I dont blame em! Seeing and hearing a Mustang coming down the street will turn heads, get grown men crying, and have children giving the thumbs-up. No one notices a BMW (unless youre a Beemer dork). No one cares about an Audi rolling by. Now a Mustang? Those curves will draw eyes for miles.
