This would the perfect thing to do if you worked for some fast food joint or a supermarket but to do this on air for the rest of the world to see was just idiotic. Working for a TV station as an anchor, reporter, meteorologist, etc is a career move and you use it to move on to bigger and better things. A job opportunity like that does not come around too ofter and you have to be be very fortunate to get a position in this environment. Especially in Alaska.
In fairy tail land we would all like to say this to our boss but realistically you have to be professional and respectful when you leave your job. If her plight to legalize weed in Alaska does not pan out she will not have a career in broadcasting. Good job lady.
So she selfishly drew attention to herself and her cause putting the other anchor on the spot. This isn't improv. News anchors aren't trained to cover for those on their team they rely on to work with not against them. Talk about a co worker stabbing another co worker in the back.
She could have made her statement 10 different ways without being an a$$.
She probably ruined a career in broadcasting, but that's nothing to be worried about. Most reporters make crap for money and spend their careers hoping they get to be part of the .001% that moves to a large (or national) market that pays decent money. She can make more money working a step or two up from entry level in PR or advertising, and that's probably what she'll end up doing.
In no stretch of the imagination did it cost her "a lot of money". General Assignment reporter in Anchorage? $25K-$30K/yr. tops, if even that. Future earnings? Possibly higher, but if you're in your late twenties and working TV news in Alaska chances are the networks aren't exactly lining up for your services.
Fact of the matter is a cocktail waitress displaying any amount of hustle, working anywhere other than a dive bar is probably pulling down twice as much as the "F-bomb" girl.
If her pot business takes off she could probably buy the whole TV station. Calculated risk.

Get over it, if an anchor becomes unglued because it's not on the TelePrompter they shouldn't be on the desk. Frankly I thought that was as entertaining as the F-bomb.
This was... interesting to watch. Makes me wonder what is going on behind the scenes that had her say #$%@ it on air.
I know...Maybe she worked with awful people. Maybe she was dealing with some traumatic personal issues and just had a very public meltdown. Maybe she was too involved in what her news story was about. Maybe she was just a prima donna who had a very bad attitude. Maybe the thought of the days getting so much shorter in Alaska was causing stress and she wasn't thinking straight. Who knows?? It's interesting (but not surprising) to see how quickly people rush to judgement though, and either vilify her as all that is wrong with our world today or make her out to be a folk hero for standing up to "The Man".

Not true. If she had stayed with that company for years on end her pay scale would have increased and she would have eventually gotten offers from bigger companies on mere looks alone. She really screwed herself up. Alaska has a very hard job market. And they say 90% of start up businesses fail within the first year. To be so young, bold, and stupid is incredibly well...stupid.
She wants to promote the legalization of marijuana in Alaska. She's not looking to continue a career in broadcasting.
She is standing up for a cause that she believes in and did it in a spectacular fashion which will bring more attention to the cause. Bravo.
