Sometime talking don't work. It's time to break out the fire hoses, tear gas and rubber bullets etc.

There may be reason to believe the part in bold, but under the law that does not allow the police to use additional force against him. At this point the public does not have all the information needed to know what exactly happened, or whether the force the cop used was lawful.
That last point, though, is also the reason it's a big problem that the demonstrators are out there stirring things up and calling for the cop to be prosecuted, or even killed. They don't know what happened! Their acting as if they did is quite disturbing.

That attitude has been prevalent from the get-go, an outrageous and offensive presumption. Remarkably little of that has been taken to task in the media.
Now the police have apologized for the way things were handled in the aftermath of the shooting, perhaps we can hear a few apologies from the community for the fear and damage the poor damn merchants in the area have been put through. As far as I can see, on that score, there's been a resounding silence. I guess that's not about to change.
Then, again, the problem might be that some people think the thugs deserve first consideration. Either way, it's not good.
