I remember in Chicago, ( I was there) in 69, mayor Daley issued an order to shoot to kill, arsonists, and shoot to wound looters.

It stopped pretty quick.

For some, our values are upside-down.
That is a false comparison.

Two totally different situations and you don't know if those of us who believe the cop overreacted are also supporters of our men and women in the military.

Are YOU serious?

A cop should detain a suspect. Not shoot him! Is that really asking too much from today's police forces? Respect our entitled rights as Americans and don't kill us?

Wilson's injuries were greatly exaggerated. They were no where even close to being life threatening. Wilson is 6'4" and 210lbs. No shrinking violet. I'm sure he could have radioed for back up and proceeded to chase Brown and take him down without killing him. GOOD cops do this daily.

If our current model of police include men and women who only know how to shoot and kill Americans because they are not fit enough to take them down, we are in sorry state of affairs.

I can't believe that we are even discussing the ABC of how to obey a police officer.
I can't believe that we are even discussing the idea that police officers have this magical power over the people to act as the lone arm of the law! They work FOR US. Not the other way around. We'd all do well to remember that.

I was raised in a nuclear family, started working as a youngster, built my own business and now married with children. I pay my taxes. I volunteer in my community. I vote in every election. I attend council meetings.

But I will never agree that the police forces in this country have any right or power over me as an American citizen. They need to learn their place. If I am pulled over, which I never have been, I know my rights and will exercise them.

I don't understand. You mean Obama and Holder are right-wingers? Aren't donations to the Left if not larger, at least equal with the right? What about media? No influence there?

Besides, the right also protests. It just seems to me that they riot and loot a lot less or don't at all, and it doesn't trash communities.

Try again

You should wait until you're severely injured to react.
No, I said you fight fire with fire. You don't KILL someone because they punched you in the face. Its a ridiculous, backwards and violent way to view the world.

Of course they do. I pay them, and I want them to be tough, strong with the criminals. Police don't have a magical power over us, until you break the law. That's how it should be. Otherwise it would be anarchy. As a New Yorker I have experienced both -- strong and weak police. I would never want to live or my family live in a community with your version of policing.

He wasn't killed because he was punched in the face.

He was killed because he attacked again.
