What gets people upset is the same situation as a girl in high school who never gets noticed....never does drugs, gets drunk or gets bad grades...Compared to another girl who takes drugs, gets drunk and then gets help and becomes the prom queen and is written up in the news paper about how she overcame drugs and everyone is so proud of her....Makes the first girl feel like the only way to get attention is to do bad stuff and then reform and be the hero....
Thinking people don't want a "bad" person to be rewarded....Even though his crime was years ago it makes all of us feel like the first girl I mentioned in high school where there is no justice....

Let's back off on the parenting judgments since we have no information at all that the parents were negligent. Most molesters are in fact trusted family friends.
Having money and being able to "get women now" has nothing to do with the abhorrent sexual desires that pedophiles have for children. It's not a shortage of available women that turns guys like this to little boys.
I find it horrible that good things happen to bad people (and he was convicted so let's assume he is in fact bad) but the amount of publicity this has received will make the life of a run of the mill sex offender much more difficult. I'm not sure the cash will offset the additional publicity this guy has about his past. Mom may employ him, but I'm assuming the cab company isn't getting great publicity so he's going to have to worry about employment when the money runs out. This publicity may also protect anyone else from letting their kids be around him.
