This I cannot believe...but true....

First, let me describe what Dengue fever is..

It is a Virus......some of the folks in the 1400's that had the Black Plague had the same...

80% of healthy people will live thru it, like Measles and such, but 15% will experience shock and hemmorage, 5% will experience inflammation of the brain and vital internal parts, along with seizures,
and 1% will die....

There is no cure for Dengue fever.....

Here are a few pics of those suffering from the same..

Okay, million dollar question..Who are the geniuses volunteering for this? Are they out of their minds, considering there is no cure, or guarantee they will not develop a serious illness or die? I surely would presume no one is being forced to do this, ala the atomic bomb tests of old in the 40s and 50's.

Again, who in the hell would possibly volunteer for this in their right mind? How could the military actually think anyone would seriously consider doing the same?

Here is an article stating a little about the experiments in 2015, once they get this past the bioethics committees..

Dengue Fever Researchers in Military Weigh Infecting Volunteers – CBRNe Portal

How much are the volunteers getting paid for being infected with a possibly deadly virus with no known cure? Man, I would imagine at least $100,000....if you could even put a price on infecting yourself with a deadly, no-cure virus......

Then again, my great-grandfather said you can pay people to do anything imaginable.....everything...

$100K? NOPE! HELL NO! That's peanuts and I'd rather work for a year or so for it instead.

For several million $$? HELL YES! Sign me up so I can deal with it and then retire. If I die, I would want the money given to my parents. However, there is only a 1% chance of dying, and a 99% chance that I wouldn't have to deal with the BS I do at work ever again.

I would say 1% are great odds....

I would imagine many would take that bet for 2 million or so...

I can think of worse bets, plus they are monitoring you..

Still wonder where they will find those 15 people, and what they are getting for this..

maybe they are prisoners getting out for time served if they do this from the military brig?

WTF.

NO.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER NO NO NO NONONONONONONO

I got it while in Southeast Asia, and put it this way... the pain was so horrific and relentless that I had to be stopped from attempting suicide. This is not an exaggeration. I was praying to die.

And now that I've had it, I'm at risk for the really deadly strain if I get it again.

I'd do that to never work again.

I wouldn't. My dad had Dengue Fever in WW2. After listening to him talk about it over the years I wouldn't do it now.

He had lots of health problems over the years but I don't know if they were a result of Dengue Fever. Crohns was the major one.

Just says researchers at Walter Reed Scientific Center are planning on doing this. Doesn't say in the link that service people are being asked to volunteer. Could be similar to CDC scientists who go where the bad stuff is and study it there.

not enough info in link.
