I think the father never wanted to be a parent in the first place.

"You can be stone-cold lucid AND very, very cruel."

There is evil in this world. We don't see that word in print or hear it in conversation very often. It is a word that needs to come back into our lexicon as we confront it. We cannot address or discuss the problem unless we can define it. In France today their government shot some evil Muslim terrorists. Those terrorists were evil. They were "stone-cold lucid AND very, very cruel". That is just one example. Evil is not limited to any nationality, religion or ethnic group. It exists in rural and urban areas. It needs to be confronted wherever it appears. If our leaders are unwilling to define evil when we all see it, we need different leaders.

Were drugs involved? If everything was normal a few days before, it implies something very bad happened to the father. If not drugs, it must have been a sudden onset of extremely severe mental illness. He wasn't even trying to get away with it. As if he was doing it under the influence of something extreme.

What if they had been sitting there, watching the view, and the girl had fallen off in a freak accident? Would people then hate the father as much? But they hate him more because something extreme happened to him?

I'm just glad I'm not into drugs, and have no mental illness. It must be the world's ultimate hell. Instead of hating him, we should pray for him, and always remember, "there but for the grace of God go I."

You sound like one of those lawyers who makes excuses for the seriously deranged individuals who do the most vile things. I give no pass to this guy. Mental illness, drugs, whatever. He had enough sense to get in a car and drive it. He had enough sense to leave the scene instead of stopping. This guy will get no mercy from me or most people. He is evil to the core... murdering his own child??? I am sure there are some people who deserve some pity for their behavior. This animal is NOT one of them.

WTF? People hate the father because he THREW HIS DAUGHTER OFF OF A BRIDGE. How is that not crystal clear? Who cares if he was fine one day & then the next day threw his daughter off the bridge. That doesn't indicate he was on drugs. You realize that people can plot things & no one ever knows, right? I won't pray for that scum. Maybe if he took your daughter & threw her off a bridge you might not be so forgiving.

As a mother of young children, my heart aches reading this. it really does. drowning is absolutely horrible, especially for a young frightened girl whose final thoughts were of a father who betrayed her trust. I have zero sympathy for parents who kill their children. Zero.

When I read stories like these I do sometimes wonder if there are ancient fire and brimstone demons blowing through the countryside looking for the mentally/morally/emotionally/spiritually (what have you) feeble to carry out evil acts.
