Suspected this would be the next step. It's just not a complete Muslim terrorist act unless you kill some Jews, too, especially women and children doing their grocery shopping on Friday for the Sabbath meal. Did I miss the fatwa that promised prettier virgins if the Muslim dies in the act of slaughtering Jews?
I have no idea how we (the non extremist world) deal with this stuff. There aren't any clear options. You can't kill them all, new ones spring up to take the place of the fallen. You can't change their minds, they are far too brainwashed for that.
It's going to continue to be a issue, these extremist groups are recruiting very young men and indoctrinating them, they will grow up to do the same stuff thats happening right now.
This is one instance where they need to cut off all cellphone/internet/TV communication in both situations, so that the two groups of gunmen cannot coordinate.
Young Muslim men are the vectors of this disease and need to be dealt with appropriately.
Plenty of suicide bombers are women, its not just men. In fact, the majority of suicide-assassinations are actually committed by female jihadists, groups like black widows and Brides of Allah.

I think education is the key. I don't think there is any physical solution to this problem, since there is over a billion muslims. What they need is a reformation, similar to the one that happened to Christians in the 16th century.
Both of my doctors are Muslims. Should they be "rounded up and imprisoned" as another poster suggested? Hell no. If and when we do that, the radicals have won half of their battle. We all need to accept that we can't stop all these sneak attacks. Life owes us nothing, not even a long and peaceful life. Conceal carry, but learn how and when to use that gun. Teach your children the same. It's a personal choice, and one that comes with a vast degree of responsibility. If you hate guns, shut up and stop pestering those who carry.
Other than that, I have no advice. If we cut off aid to the middle east, won't they cut off oil to us? We're in a mess. We've left ourselves no solution.
It's time the planet recognizes that Islam is a cancer that will never provide any good contributions or uplift this world. It has been a religion of hate and death and martyrdom for 1500 years and will NEVER stop being that.
Actually, throughout Middle Ages Muslims were the civilized world, and Christians were considered backwards terrorist nutcases who were terrorizing and killing jews, burning witches, torturing innocent people, and burning books. Practically all works of ancient Greek and Roman literature and science we learned from the muslims. Not to mention the works in the sciences and math, such as algebra (al-jebr) or algorithm.
Ban the veil. Enforce our laws against polygamy. Enforce our laws against female genital mutilation. Mandate public coeducational secular education for ALL until the age of 18. Make it so that religious extremists of any ilk won't want to live here, because they won't be able to keep their women and children and sheep-like adherents ignorant and separate. They'll either assimilate, or emigrate. You want religious education? Get it outside of school hours - every afternoon/evening and weekends are available for it. Send undercover monitors into the gathering places of ALL groups that have in the past supported and sheltered those who encourage acts of violence and terrorism - KKK, mosques and Muslim religious schools, PETA, whatever. The NYC police had it right, infiltrating mosques. That's where as far back as the 1970s Muslim clerics were encouraging violent jihad against the Western, secular world.

No! Of course not! But if we force all to "Americanize" by attending coeducational public schools, and ban the veil or headscarf, those who would raise their children to commit jihadist terrorist acts would refuse to live here, since they would be exposing them to the dangerous notions of secular freedom.
We could also go back to the restrictive immigration laws of the past, and minimize or completely eliminate immigration from the Muslim world.
Addressing assimilation is as large of a "fix" or act of prevention as we can do in our country. These and all immigrants must be made to assimilate. From language all the way to what parentologist said above with banning the veil etc... That is the only way to keep this from taking place in our country.
