Exactly. This is just a ploy to make a legal case out of nothing. No one really wants a cake saying, "I hate X types of people," or "People who are Y should burn," etc.

It could not be more deliciously hypocritical than that
From the OP's link:

"According to Silva, the man who visited last year wanted a Bible-shaped cake, which she agreed to make.
...
She said she would make the cake, but declined to write his suggested messages on the cake, telling him she would give him icing and a pastry bag so he could write the words himself."

In the other case, the baker refused to bake the cake and turned the customers away.
This baker agreed to bake the cake and provide the means by which the customer could satisfy his request.

Where is the hypocrisy?

No hypocrisy here.
The baker isn't a hypocrite. The hypocrites are the people who support this baker's right to withhold a service, decorate a cake as requested by the customer, because the message offends her, while opposing the right of other business owners to withhold a service because it offends them.

I think the disturbing thing here is the fact that what sounds like a government agency the "Colorado’s Civil Rights Division" is involved. I see a huge amount of overreach here and this is an agency, if it is taxpayer supported, that needs to be eliminated due to stupidity and lack of any common sense.

She wasn't withholding a service. She was happy to bake the cake for them, and even decorate it, just not decorate it with that particular subject matter. She offered a way to make it happen.

That's different than not even being willing to bake a cake at all.

Agreed. Especially as the owner offered to bake the cake, and offered the customer a bag of icing so he could write his message on the cake himself.

Although the more cynical part of me thinks that this case won't go anywhere also because the guy's on the wrong side of the gay agenda issues, political correctly speaking.

Anyone who wonders whether our country is drowning in trivial BS needs to look no further than this absurd proliferation of cake lawsuits.

Regardless of one's opinion on these cases, the idea that we can keep people from doing annoying and/or foolish things belongs in cloud cuckoo land...
