The whole Russian paranoia is beyond irrational. Obviously they could build bases outside Guantanamo if they wanted to. I don't think Cuba is very happy with the Russians.

The real question is what do Cubans and other leftist in Latin America governments like Venezuela, Argentina and Ecuador really want. Are the US, France, Germany and Britain losing power? are they gonna be forced to negotiate with these countries?

And then you have Greece... And Spain where growing far left groups like "podemos" are using leftist Latin America government actions as examples to follow.

they will never say anything positive about Obama- not even if he pushed them out of the way so a speeding car would NOT kill them. or if he funded the guy who finds the ultimate cure for cancer - he can do no right in their eyes- so twist the truths they will

Absolute nonsense. I voted for him in '08 and wanted him to fix things as he said he would.

People are calling out Obama because of all the failed promises, the blatant corporate cronyism that he supports with his administration, his failure to prosecute anyone responsible for the financial collapse, his bombing of 7 Arab countries when he said he would end it, and the absolute dismal state of the US economy that is being spun into something great because they have printed up Trillions of dollar$$$ and dumped it into wall street's hands. Meanwhile millions of middle class jobs have disappeared and continue to disappear.

Obama rewards irresponsibility and penalizes the hard working.

The people who can't say anything positive about Obama are the ones who are paying attention. It's the ones who believe the rhetoric, think things are great, and make every excuse for Obama, that are bringing us down.

And if one of Obama's opponents had been elected every one of those problems would have been infinitely worse. Obama's opponents actually believe in things like cutting taxes further for the wealthy, spending much more on the military, and repealing financial reform under Dodd Frank. These clowns still reject the reality of climate change or global warming.

Get it straight. It was the federal reserve not Obama that pursued the policy of quantitative easing. Actually, I think the federal reserve was right to do it and the economic recovery (it has partially occurred) that has taken place, largely did so because of it.

The problem of jobs disappearing is a problem that is beyond the ability of any one leader to fix. All the countries in the world are going through difficulties right now because of globalization. The truth is that it is not as bad in the USA as it is in Europe and most of the developed world because of the financial shake-down we went through from 2008-2013.

Honestly, I have little respect for those who are angry at Obama because he did not "go far enough". Politics is about compromise. It is about getting what is possible to do, done. People like you remind me of a spoiled child who doesn't get to play the game he wants and so he picks up his toys and goes home.

Obama is far from a perfect President, but the idea of normalizing relations with Cuba is a good idea. He isn't about to give up the Guantanamo Naval Base to do it though. That isn't going to happen.

This is the classic response to criticism of Obama. Point out the issues with other idiots. This has been going on since the day he took office.

People don't buy this anymore, hence the absolute failure of the democrats last November.

No he didn't! You should read a little bit on the subject prior to regurgitating conservative propaganda... Just a thought...

We can't keep hanging on to this. It's been 5+ decades. Vietnam's now our trading partner, and so is Japan and Germany. Should we STILL not be speaking to either of them?
Agreed, part of the agreement should be for a UN team to go through all Cuban prisons (and CIA) and that mess will need cleaned up before anything is lifted or agreed upon. Who knows who's stashed away somewhere.
