All of those changes would be in the best interest of both countries.

Won't happen. We are there because of a treaty and it will take a treaty to void, which requires 2/3 vote of consent by the Senate.

...of course, there's always "Executive Order".

That is one of the most absurd comments I have ever read on this subject, unless you are a total Castro sympathizer.
Even then, an objective person would acknowledge Castro's proposals all favor his dictatorship, not the interests of the American people.

I also wonder why no mention is being made of the return of land, property, assets to all the people and corporations the Castro's pillaged over the years. Why did he not say there should be a full accounting of all the human rights abuses by he and his brother over the last 50 years?

Demands? You've got to be kidding. They are dirt poor. They aren't in a position for making demands.
So much for helping Cuba!

Why does Castro meed Gitmol, anyway? His whole country is a giant prison already. No one can leave, surf the internet, or speak freely. He and his corpse of a brother can throw any dissenters in jail --- or worse. They're a couple limp-dictators. Real gay caballeros.

What Obama has mind dealing with these geriatric thugs escapes me. They were content to stew in their own sour little garbage pile. Why throw them our spare change to keep Frick and Frack in power?

Obama on the world stage again and now getting schooled by Cuba. LOL Did anyone expect the result to be any different?

The community agitator is way way way out of his league.

Yep , just like when Carter gave away the Panama Canal. Obama will find a way to give Castro all he wants. Appeaser in Chief, continuing his campaign of American apologetics. After all, its just not fair that we are(or were) a superpower and Castro is just a tin plated dictator, with delusions of godhood. Shall we pay to fully upgrade and furnish Gitmo for you Mr. Castro? Pay your operating costs? And please, tell us what YOU think would be fair for "compensation". What's another trillion or two.

who needs who more... we don't need Cuba, but they are smart enough to know they are dying- what has been for 50 yrs is useless and has killed endless people.... and personally for human rights... every time I hear someone made it to the shore after a grueling trip just to be turned around 5 ft from land GRRR -- that is painful! and horrible- and when they get back worse- we are no saints either

Oh boy. You knew THAT one was coming, didn't you? Have been to GITMO back in the 80s. The funny thing about it is, is that, that's probably just what out dictator in the white house will do. Personally I don't see Gitmo as any prime piece of real estate, however I am sure it has some strategic value. Couldn't care less about the prison there. As far as compensation goes, why don't we tell Castro to "pi** off"!
