Apparently they no longer buy fuel for their delivery trucks because those costs have plummeted.
They are retiring diesel trucks for alternate fuel vehicles as fast as possible. However after failing to meet their commitments in the 2013 Christmas season they hired a lot of assistant drivers and brought out lots of mothballed brown trucks. With five or more competitors for the last mile delivery service someone is going to get dropped

Fuel prices have plummeted and their costs are increasing? Now that is creative management.
As more stuff is shipped by people ignoring their local store more people are being hired to move things from a to b. And it is the people, the assistant driver who ran packages for your regular UPS driver during December which has caused the loss of profit.
USPS is way better anyway. A non-profit company is going to cost less than a for-profit company. Duhhhh!
