Someday, when the son becomes useless to the football organization and has lived the lifrstyle of the rich and famous until he wasn't anymore, it's family that they all end up turning to to bail them out.

I guess the many parents who do end up having to help a child who earned more in one year than everyone they know, combined, in a lifetime did not set the example that Papa Sherman did in the first place.
This lowers my opinion of professional athletes even more. What kind of multi-millionaire would not make sure his father has no reason to ever work a day in his life? Buy your dad a damn garbage truck and let him drive around on your estate if he likes it so much.
NFL players on average have a very short career, don't have guaranteed contracts so it could be over in one bad tackle.....left with injuries, limited job skills and exorbitant lifestyles. Google: Sports Illustrated Broke Athletes......excellent insight on how millionaire athletes get into trouble very quickly.
Congrats to the dad, he realizes this could be a short run and keeping his job will certainly not hurt anyone vs. lining up to the kid's gravy train.
It is called pride in what the man did all these years to earn an honest living. It would be unhealthy for the man to quit his job because his kid has money. He is doing the right thing and will retire with pride, not getting a handout from his son. Goodness!
Seems like a good guy, but nothing unusual here, either. Billions of people get up and go to work each day in order to support their families ... and I'm sure most parents of athletes continue working.
Agree with this - finish line is near - it will be very rewarding especially because he earned it on his own through hard work.

Richard Sherman has a brain in his head, and a perfectly good set of parents. He will be fine after his football career ends.
