The guy couldn't get a bicycle? 2 hrs of sleep a day? Something doesn't add up. Now he can buy a Maserati.
He lives in Detroit, it snows like crazy in the winter try riding a bike in 18in of snow. Btw, riding a bike might make you an easy target for theft and etc...so walking might be safer.
Interesting. Certain people, I won't name any names, consistently scoff & ridicule poorer people claiming they need to get their lazy ass off of the couch, quit taking, quit complaining & start working hard. This person is doing that & you STILL ridicule it? There is no hope for people like you, truly.
Like I said in the Richard Sherman thread, dammed if they do, damned if they don't.
With certain people, you can't win, but I'm sure this fine gentleman in this story wouldn't be concerned with his/her opinion or skepticism.

I think he must be one of those people who has a great immune system. Walking probably makes it better. Hope his decreased walking doesn't hurt him though.
He looks like he has long legs. He's probably walking faster than three miles an hour. That's still some serious time.
I saw on the news this morning that donations have surpassed $160,000. My thought was, since he lives in Detroit, that's enough for a car and a house. In fact, it's enough to buy a couple/few houses, do some rehab, sell and keep doing it. Homes are less than dirt cheap in Detroit and some just need esthetic stuff to be pretty nice. At least it's like that in my old neighborhood.
A news report just said they've raised over $130,000 so don't really know which number is correct.
They raised all that money AND a dealership offered him a free car, he will only have to pay the taxes on it. There are a lot of good people in this country. This man's determination is a good example and pretty rare. He appreciates that he has a good job in one of the most depressed cities in the US.

Agreed. I guess this guy didn't get the memo about how to act poor.
