I love this story. We donated to his GoFundMe page. Mr. Robertson is exactly the type of American that makes this county great. We need more James Robertsons in this world and less Michael Browns. I'm so glad to see that thousands of others feel the same way. The donations have now reached $200k You know what? Mr. Robertson, with his perfect work attendance, has earned every dollar. What an inspiration!

Feel good story? Yes, to the tune of a couple hundred grand. Sure makes it easy to forget the failed city, how and why it failed that put people in the hardship in the first place. But hey, one guy is walking mikes and miles so lets feel good about that. Meanwhile, there are probably people within walking distance who have no food to eat, no decent place to live and rags to wear as clothing. Feel good... right.
Something does seem off about this. At best this is 5 hours of walking a day if not 7 or so. He is doing this for a 10/hr job? Something is off with the math. His commute is 14 hours a day and a 8 hour shift at work. Min wage is 8.15 if he found two min wage jobs where he worked 25 hours each he would have the same income and only work 50 hours vs his current 110 work/commute

You must have missed my first post, I was the one that said I'm not buying this story and got slammed. My reply to your post was being sarcastic.
I think there is just more to this story than we know. In one report it states he did this for 5-6 years another states 10. Also he lived with his girlfriend in a house that she inherited. Also , can one actually survive on only 2 (which is what one news source stated) hours of sleep for 10 years ? doesn't seem possible.

Yep. I used to walk almost 1 and a half miles to a bus stop, and it would take me around half an hour to get there. I was in my early 20s at the time, so I had plenty of energy/stamina. Yet, this man claims to walk 13 miles? Oh please! And how pathetic that people felt the need to donate money to him. It reminds me of that case of a woman who worked as a bus monitor, and some kids on the bus made her cry. So the public donated over $600,000 to her. Ridiculous.

I read the article on CNN and it says that he does take the bus part of the commute. It also has an interview with the plant manager where he works. As for the distance he walks, it is possible he enjoys the walk and that it is therapeutic.
