From the article:

Quote:
When the Park Forest cops arrived, predictably the situation then escalated to violence. Wrana did brandish a fileting knife. However, the police mistook a shoehorn for a machete and raided Wrana’s room.
So, the old duffer clutched a filet knife. A problem, certainly. But, a minor one, given that... the guy was ninety-freakin'-five years old!

And, yes, it's really confusing - shoehorn... machete...

Quote:
Instead of waiting for the 95-year-old to simply take a nap and go in peacefully, the police used the only tactic they know, violent escalation.

When a taser was fired by an officer and missed, Taylor fired the beanbag gun from 15 feet away, in clear violation of the manufacturers instructions. He fired five consecutive shots into the 95-year-old in a matter of seconds.
Nothing more needs to be said.

But I have no doubt the authority leg-humpers will be along shortly to run interference for this miscreant of an LEO.

A couple light taps with a baton or the repurposing of a fire extinguisher would have likely been enough to make the old codger drop his small blade and rant about Matlock or linseed oil. Throw a blanket on him, confuse him, push him onto his bed, disarm him, etc.

This story is just one of a very long list of extrajudicial executions by police. This is a pattern nationwide. It would have been very simple for police to ask the others to step back and then shoot the man in the leg to drop him. There was no need to kill him. Many laws were made to make fighting terrorism easier. Unfortunately, the war on terror has become a war on the American people.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the guy refused medical treatment after he was shot. He had internal bleeding that needed repaired, but he refused.

At least he got to go out like a true gangster. Maybe it was his plan all along.
