This isn't about Reagan though is it. It always comes up, trying to explain away what someone did today by reaching into the past. There is worse than what Williams did, the excuses that come up.

You know, everybody does it. Not everyone remembers events the same. It happens all the time in families and social circles.

I'm okay with Brian Williams. It's not like he fabricated evidence like another anchor I can think of.

No, not everyone does it.

You don't see a difference between remembering an event differently by different people and Williams saying something that didn't happen at all?

How does one remember something they weren't involved in. Not some child who's memory can get clouded through influence or the pain of the event, but a journalist who said something that just didn't happen?

Let me help you out:

Chopper pilot recalls Brian Williams' 2003 inaccuracy

About that fabricating part. Remembering something differently is one thing, making something up, which is what Williams did, is called lying. It didn't happen to him in any way therefore there was nothing to remember differently.

What there was, was Williams lying and making something up. No, not everyone does it.

Forked tongue is more like it. NBC could have hired thousands of liars that do a better job than Williams. 10 million for just one liar seems a bit much. Maybe they got a lot of lies out of him, more than we know?

Gore never lied about Vietnam--he was there as a reporter, of sorts. Reagan really seemed to believe that he served in WW2, while he really was making second-rate movies in Hollywood..

Again, Brian Williams is not only unprofessional (he can't keep his opinions away from news reporting) but he's a liar. The instances that have been aired lately of his lies to multiple interviewers about this "incident" should be troubling to anyone who cares about journalism. The "misrecollection," still parroted by NBC, is a crock. He not only lied about this on multiple occasions, but embroidered the tale as he was questioned about it.

A doctor with the NBC team during Katrina coverage has also questioned his "dysentery," along with the "many bodies" that he supposedly saw "floating by." Then there's the Katrina survivor who was supposedly murdered at the Astrodome.....the same person, he recounted, whose murder Williams later claimed to have witnessed.

Give me a break.
