Sounds like MSNBC took over management.

Funny how liberal news journalists usually are anti-war, but Williams who falls into that category, wants to make himself out to be some kind of war hero, glamorizing "his part" of the war. It works when its convenient for themselves.

Hypocrite.

Those are opinion shows not news reporting, just like Matthews and Maddow.

I kind of feel bad for him. I deployed to Kuwait at that time - so I can say I was there - lol.

Anyway, I bet if you look at the records of the flying crew, you might find decorations stating that "while escorting Mr. Brian Williams, blah, blah, blah, the crew encountered enemy fire and gallantly, expertly, (?) brought the mission to safety?

I caught the Friday show where he had that sgt major at the Rangers game. The guy looked kind of sheepish. Wouldn't he have known the real story? He wasn't on the helicopter, but was with Brian on the ground for a couple days, weeks?

My brother was a chopper pilot in Vietnam and was shot down a couple times. The last one was it for him - came home, alive, but barely.

It's not 1972 anymore. Elite big-media journalists practically see themselves as a branch of the government now. Their social, academic and professional ties with other elites in DC and the Pentagon are close, and in a time of national unity and extreme pro-military sentiment as prevailed in the early days of the Mideast conflict it's only too clear how this guy came to identify, and wish to be like, the actual military personnel he dealt with.

Brian Williams is a news anchorman, not an entertainer like Hannity and O'Reilly. He has to get his facts right. He cannot lie to the public. He cannot stretch and spin the truth. He cannot use the airwaves to promote himself and still keep his job. He just can't.

It's not a political thing. If he can no longer distinguish between fact and fantasy (his lawyer's defense), Williams needs to be replaced. It's really that simple.

Bloggers are now questioning his "news reporting" of Katrina. Did he fabricate those facts too -- about seeing bodies floating in an area that didn't even get flooded...about getting dysentery from getting infected water in his mouth? Of course he did. Once a liar, always a liar. His termination is long overdue. Demand it. Email NBC. America deserves better.

Curious to read several posts that are clearly excusing Mr. Williams. I suspect they are in the same political camp.

..

.

Baloney to that far-fetched supposition.

What he did encounter were vets on that mission showing up on his Facebook page, where he was still bragging about something that never happened.

The only sheepish one is Williams, now claiming that he "misrecollected" an event he's been wearing as a badge of honor since 2003. He wasn't counting on today's social media to get the real heroes talking.

Isn't technology wonderful?

I do not watch TV anymore but if he is still on the air it's a travesty. He needs to go ASAP. If NBC doesn't have the backbone then he needs to do the right thing and step down.

He has no credibility in my eyes whatsoever.
