Doesn't really matter, a lot of artists sample music--he had really good albums when he first came out, his first four CDS IMO were his best. He WAS a great hip-hop artist, now those who don't listen to hip-hop or that don't like it, won't see him that way--so no matter there... but he was a good hip hop artist, and despite his antics and his offensive nature as an artist it cannot be argued that he sucks, especially when you consider some of the mainstream hip-hop artists that can't rap worth s***. He is talented but his ego is too big and he says what is on his mind without censoring himself. His personality might suck but his music does not he is talented there is a reason Beck said kanye was a genius despite the snub.

Beck, who is 44, has been performing since he was 15, and cut his first album at 19-- long before anyone knew KW from a hole in the ground. He also plays over a dozen instruments (and he plays them well) but let's not talk about artistry.

The fact that you consider his stage-rushing antics "minor" says more about you. The MTV Awards and Grammys aren't KW's private little domain. He may think they are just as he thinks he can control mere peons on the street by ordering them not to speak to him , but he's wrong. And the number of one's fans doesn't necessarily correlate to artistry. People line up for freak shows, too.

Give me a break.
And the fact that that particular poster called a baby fugly said a lot about her as well. Yes I think him snubbing a grow man is minor in comparison to some of the MAJOR events going on in the world that exists outside of the grammy. The fact that this is controversy to you says a lot about YOU my dear--you see my life exists outside of the scope of music award shows, I don't watch them. You do, have a cookie and some milk and get off your couch and turn the tv off if you don't like what your seeing. Beck is a grown man, he can speak up and tell Kanye to f*** off that's what you do, when someone your "size" decides to get gully on you. Taylor swift was NOT a grown person, and though I did not respect her as an artist, I did think what he did that night to HER was wrong. To beck? Maybe it was tacky and mean, but was it MAJOR, NOPE!

And Beck, might have been performing since he was 15, but there are PLENTY of people that don't know who he is. Perhaps Kanye is more known because of his antics, but the point remains, that Kanye's name is more relevant, period. I've never listened to Beck, so I won't comment on him as an artist. He might be great. I know Kanye was a good artist back when he first came out and before his mother passed away. BUT I haven't liked his last two albums. Still, he has a great and large fan base, and perhaps Beck does too. Yes Kanyes personality might suck, but his music at one point did not, and he still remains relevant per this thread, and the articles and blogs that speak about all his "antics". If he didn't matter, yall wouldn't continue talking about him.

He's hated, so what? Not everyone will like you, I'm sure he's laughing right too the bank.

Now, if people have a problem with his behaviors on award shows, than petition him, ban him, etc. If it's a big deal to you, then make it one. But as for me? I care far more about things that are far MORE major than a celebrity snubbing another one at a stupid grammy award show.

Good day to you mam.

After those two stunts at the grammys, I feel he shouldn't be invited anymore but what do I know?

Polite and respectful he is not. He just needs to stick with making music and stop with the publicity stunts.

All those who got on Twitter and were like "Beck who?" were the same ones that got on Twitter to rave about the new artist that Kanye "discovered," some random bloke named Paul McCartney.

Beck also said Kanye was a genius. Soooo.... Again I and several others had never heard of Beck before this week. I don't think not knowing who he is means he isn't talented. I can't comment on how he is as an artist but I'm sure he is talented too, his name isn't as main stream IMO. Not a bad thing.

No it was something about protecting a new clothing line of his . His full quote was:

"I got my wife, my daughter, and I got my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing that would put my daughter at risk".

Sometimes he is right other times it's questionable. At the time he did it to Taylor swift I thought it was mean how he did it, considering how young and new she was to the industry and of course to just do that the way he did it was hurtful and humiliating I felt bad for her. But....... At that time I agreed with his sentiment, I didn't think she deserved it either and thought Beyonce should have won. The way he did it was wrong but what he said was what I was thinking. And that's what I appreciate about him, he gives no f*cks and speaks with honesty. Many might not agree with what he says or how he says it, but he doesn't care either way. Honestly I loved his first four CDs, he was great back then. Still listen to them. Nowadays???? He's gone too mainstream and it just isn't the same. I need for him to rep the chi like he used to. But it's funny how hated he is because he doesn't care if he offends in mass a group of people that wouldn't support him or listen to his music even if he was chucking and jiving and keeping his opinions to himself the way people think he "ought to". Yes he's tacky but it doesn't bother me.
And this is what is wrong with society. Because YOU prefer Beyoncé over Taylor Swift, she should not have won and Kayne had great balls to go onstage and tell it like it is. I say that's nuts. I don't like half the crap that is nominated for these awards, but I would never, ever go onstage or even later on camera and say the Grammy's don't reward artistry when the other people are also artists.

Taste is subjective. You like Beyoncé's music over Taylor Swift and Beck. I feel the opposite. If you don't agree with the voting on the Grammy's, then I suggest you do as I have done for the last 30 years and not watch it.

Don't honor someone who shows no class by going on stage to complain that someone he doesn't like winning an award over someone he does like. I do think it's tacky, and also done to get his name all over the news. It's the Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West idea that any publicity is good publicity, but it can eventually ruin careers. The public gets tired of it.

EDIT: I wrote this before I saw your other posts and realized you understand all this. I just hate the swag mentality and how people honor others for being rude because its "honest." What it means is it's only honest to him and people who agree with his tastes. It's not honest to others and to openly say that one is not an artist because he doesn't care for his music is not honest, it's stupid.

Nowadays, and years later I think she's earned her place and I would never question what many consider to be her talents(though admittingly she sounds generic and sings teeny bopper stuff that I can't relate to, so she isn't my idea of talent)...I don't know anything about Beck so I can't comment. But sounds like Beck brushed it off.
I'm sure Beck's laughing all the way to the bank. You just know he's got a lot of hits on Youtube now (a very significant part of musicians' earnings in these days of streaming music and people not buying records anymore). And maybe people are buying some of his music too just to see what all the fuss is about. It's probably what kept Taylor Swift around long enough to grow in her music (even if I agree that it's generic).

And we all know that if he wasn't relevant you and the many others wouldn't have made comments about him. There wouldn't be articles about his antics even something as minor as a snub at a singer who didn't even care. He's been relevant and has stayed that way despite how offensive he is. His albums do well, as does his concerts, as does his money which he makes even with his irrelevant self lol. As much as people want to downplay him and say otherwise, there are plenty of people that got on twitter that were like "beck who?" Or who is "beck"... Yeah, I don't agree with the personal comments like fat porn wife or fugly kid. How would they even know? I have every expectation that any child from those two is going to be gorgeous when she grows up.
