Not surprising really, in the U.S. they routinely use power bills (via power company snitching) to spot spikes in usage and thermal imaging to look for unusually high heat readings.

So many states are for it...here in CO it is SO funny to
walk the dog...pot is all over in the air so often!...Cause you know they
have to vent and have cycles in their harvesting ...so it's even in the Winter!

They could have been growin something else for sure, but whatever it was they were growing, it would need to be extremely valuable to justify the heating cost and your garden variety tomato isn't going to fit that bill. Maybe someone has a really unhealthy obsession with tomatoes or a certain type of vine-grown fruit or berry, or they're growing an expensive variety of some herb/fungus, or they're growing weed. One of these is much more probably than the other.

The Netherlands allow you to grow up to five plants for your own use. The situation with the pot farm is more analogous to bootlegging liquor.
