I wonder if the colleague that spoke out will mysteriously get placed on desk duty.
Whistle blowers are retaliated against all the time, no one seems to make much of a deal about it, unless it comes to the police. Why do people have such a hard time understanding that the police are a reflection of the society, not the other way around. The same people you pass on the street, the people you know, work with, play with, see anywhere are the same that join police departments. It would be nice to think they are somehow special. Thwy are the same. Oh, they might enjoy aspects of the job but they are still the same. Now that people are seeing that, they are caught unawares as their fantasy of what the police are vanishes. They feel suddenly vulnerable. Welcome to the real world.

Update: Mistrial.

Apparently many people think the cops actions were acceptable. This says a lot about "American Justice."

Defense attorney Robert Tuten has said the confrontation was an unfortunate escalation of police tactics and not a criminal offense.
What kind of BS logic is that?!

If I had a confrontation that left a man paralyzed and in the hospital, certainly there would be charges against me, as well as a conviction. There wouldn't be "oh, well things just got out of hand, sorry about that, my bad".

What a crock.

The department did the right thing this time. They charged his ass. It's the stupid jury that can't get it right.
