Although the website does not list ANY of its major donors (a rarity for a nonprofit), the chairman is also chairman for Partnership for America, a lobbying group for the healthcare industry. He is also a retired attorney who helped relax regulations on prescription drugs. It is sometimes important to look at where the money comes from when lobbying groups try to overturn the will of voters.
They'll have a hard case to prove being that they are in DC and far from being affected by what's happening in Colorado.

They should make all of them legal. Pot, crack, meth...all of them and tax the crap out of them. Even with the taxes the prices will drop like a rock eventually once supply catches up. Then use the tax money for treatment and prevention education. At least all the money won't be going to cartels and law enforcement agencies.

This is exactly what happened when California, Oregon, Washington, and Colorado put GMO-labeling bills up for public vote. No matter what side of the GMO debate you fall on, the only money that came flooding into these states in opposition to GMO labeling were from special-interest lobbying groups in D.C. and out-of-state agribusiness interests. In other words, huge corporations and their political cronies. They scared and misled people into voting against the initiatives, all for the sake of protecting their own corporate profits.
Always follow the money. Almost everything in this country boils down to whose bank account stands to take a hit.
No! Our government wouldn't do that, would they???
I wonder where it all began. We already know the insane things they starting saying (Reefer Madness type stuff) when they prohibited cannabis, for corrupt reasons, back in the 1930's.
Somewhere between 1776 and 1937 things became quite corrupt. I have studied the beginning of the industrial revolution and know that corruption was in place by then. So it had to start somewhere before 1880.
I guess I should just admit it. Because of human nature it probably started in 1776.
