What about the people who want to vote Republican but because they are forced to be in a union and are actually supporting Democrats financially with their dues?

And what about government unions? Democrat politicians grow the government with union jobs which take dues from members and contribute it back to the Democrat politicians. All using taxpayer funds.

Totally agree. Subsidies and other barriers are needed to make businesses competitive. That is how China built its gargantuan economic engine and that is how any other nation needs to respond.

Lowering taxes works every time. Heck even New York is advertising tax breaks for new businesses.

That's true, but jobs seek lower labor costs. The unions are largely responsible for the United States having high labor rates. But I don't look at that as a bad thing. I think it is good for business that we have high wages because it allows workers to be better consumers. The problem is not that our wages are too high, but that the wages of other countries are too low. The way you correct for that disparity is through tariffs. If a country does not want to follow our minimum wage laws (and OSHA, environmental, tax, etc. laws) then a tariff will be imposed to raise the price of imported products to the level of goods that are made under the burden of American laws.

I think the usefulness of unions has long passed. It's not the 1930's anymore.

I see nothing but political organizations that charge inflated prices for work and have ridiculous conditions. I know a guy who is a union painter. You're telling me a guy painting should get paid $30/hour while the union charges $70+/hour?

And we wonder why jobs are being shipped overseas?

A guy painting should get paid more than police, firefighter, teachers?

He told me that when it's election time, they take them to the polls and "suggest" who they will vote for.

Those are more highly unionized professions than painters.

Look how the state of Wisconsin turned around after they got rid of unions, and it didn't take them long.

Especially Ray Rice. Only a union would fight for a domestic abuser like Rice after watching the video of him knocking his girlfriend out and dragging her out of an elevator.

Only an union?
As if that doesn't happen in non-union places, but of course, it only happens if that guy is in the top 1% of the company.
