What business did the Caliphs of Arabia have to rule Spain and India? Spain? It takes 5 hours to fly. It is exactly that kind of aggression that is inspiring ISIS. When ISIS says we will conquer your Rome and take your wives as slaves they have a model.

There is one little difference. They are doing it TODAY.

Desecration - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wikipedia is not a reliable source when talking about religion. Sorry. You'll have to do better.

Are you still crying about the Pagans from the 7th century, or are you going to do anything about the Muslim hoards that are destroying everything here in the 21st century? Christianity is not on par with Islam today, so it's time to stop pretending they are the same.

That's actually a myth. Sketches of the Sphinx and it's missing nose were drawn before Napoleon was even born.

I think its terrible when ancient relics are destroyed, and this is by anyone. They should be held in a Heritage Trust or something by all cultures voluntarily.

Its like destroying the Mona Lisa because you have a political or religous issue with Italians.

Erasing reminants of history leaves man with little aternative than to repeat its mistakes.

I also think many were probably replicas. Since they couldn't sell them they decided to destroy them.

These people have made a lot of money selling looted art, why would they stop now?

What business have the Romans, Spain, France, Netherlands, Great Britain, Portugal to do with conquering
North and South America, Australia, Asia, Africa. and removing the indigenous people on the name of the cross and duty of the white man.

The Caliphate were expanding their territories as every Empire we have seen or read about
and building a Homogeneous civilization, from spain to china while europe was on the dark ages
The truth that ISIS is killing anyone who have other thoughts than their thoughts in religion not only Shii's or Azdi or Coptic but also Sunni Muslims if they have other thoughts, wake up man they are destroying Mosques and destroying graves from the grandsons of our prophet how you think for a second that muslims are with that or they inherently following Islam!
You are free to reject this truth.

Re: "we should ramp up our efforts to take more of the world's stuff back here for safekeeping"

No doubt anywhere where there would be respect for antiquity and its irreplaceable art and objects. Technically , it has been done already with some objects so cultural patrimonies are being protected. It is ironic that some sculptures which reflected the Sumerian god of plague and the underworld had to be done by ISIS, an ancestor of that glorious past destroying its own heritage all in the name of ideology.

Did I say that? No.
