My family has just started a weeklong vacation to Zion and Grand Canyon parks, will this shutdown of DHS have any impact on these parks?

Thanks

As far as I have heard on the national news, the funding problem only pertains to Dept of Homeland Security. No mention of the Park service.

If you recall, the last budget impasse resulted in Obama targeting services that put the most hurt on the American people so he can play his political games. So if the democrats can somehow ruin your vacation to make you hate the republicans they will. Obama has been the most divisive President we have ever had.

Are your flying?

It might effect TSA, So getting there might be a issue.

TSA are consider essential employees, so they are suppose to go to work, But will not get paid (They might get paid, for time, if/when congress get a budget for them, and apposes back pay, they normally do that on the shut downs.) But if it drags out for more then a week or so, Many of them will start to look for paying job else where. So lines in Airports will get longer and longer.

Also all the Contractors who fix/maintain the systems will not get paid, (50/50 if they get it after the fact), So how long the companies keep them on payroll, is a big if.

So if y'all are worried about it call your Senator and tell them to pass the House bill that funds it in its entirety. Problem solved.

But the Park Service wouldn't be as essential to public safety as DHS, therefore not as much of an issue. Not as much leverage for the political games that they seem to think are more important than doing the peoples business and running the country (AKA doing their jobs). Your tax dollars at work, folks.

The parent agency of the National Park Service is the Department of the Interior, not the Department of Homeland Security.
