It's interesting that you should mention this, Javacoffee, as Hitler believed that this type of grim humor was so politically dangerous in giving the helpless a sense of power that he went to considerable lengths to suppress it.

A brief look at the benefits of gallows humor and it's significance in the Third Reich is mentioned in this short article. Have a look; maybe it'll give you another perspective to consider:

Anyone who is offended by this sketch and thinks that ISIS should be taken "seriously" has obviously never been overseas and knows nothing about the war in Iraq.

Exactly. No one is saying that ISIS is funny, but the skit was because it made an absurd point. Just as one might not see the humor in Obama's view of America, but a cartoon of him telling Miss Liberty "I love you, but I want to fundamentally change you," is hilarious.

Great site; thank you. Really like the quote from the Theorist, Martin Armstrong.

Humor and laughter are good for the soul. We all have different concepts; that's what makes us human. We are not robots. I just can not grasp that ISIS is funny in any shape or form.

What I think is ironic is how ISIS slams technology and still uses it to their advantage.

The correlation to Hitler, is the brainwashing. Hitler brainwashed millions of people into believing his rants and how everyone was going to prosper. He had a certain brand of charisma that was scary. (These are my thoughts, from the sad, war years and beyond.) Is that what ISIS does? The brainwashing of people. Scary. Still, not funny, for me.

These are just my opinions. SNL has the right to express their views; that does not mean we all have to agree, or laugh.

‘Bullies should be mocked': Not everyone is outraged by SNL’s ISIS sketch
Maybe it's because they mocked Obama as well with the line "It's just ISIS" which coincides with the "They are J.V." comment...

They should have had a spoof with Obamas daughter joining ISIS, and Obama telling her "That's fine honey, just don't associate yourself with Islamic terrorists!

That would have been even more hilarious.

Someone let Key and Peele know.

(You should write comedy.)

I thought the skit was funny, but I immediately thought there would be people who would feel mortified and take it poorly and think it was in bad taste. Some groups its okay to make fun of and for them to be the butt of jokes - pretty white girls and their daddies...not so much.
