When they know they're on camera and know it will be televised. That's why they act like choirboys versus how they act when they don't know they're on camera....
Hey, I have my reservations about them as well, but I know not all of them are bad. Blame those who employ them! The politicians that mandate some of these unneccessary laws. 2 examples, the drug war, and the Patriot Act. Remember that come election time, and vote accordingly. I don't see anyone from either of the 2 main parties working to do away with the Patriot Act and all of the other agencies that come with it, or rethinking their stance on the drug war.
As for this lady being shaken down the way she was, Christ she is 78 years old! They couldn't handle a 78 year old lady? Look if she had a gun, or a knife, I could see, but she didn't!
It's the entire concept of police in this country that is the problem. Pro-police = anti-freedom. The police in this country take United States Government military weapons and equipment and use them to control the American people. They routinely and blatantly violate the constitutional rights of American citizens. This means they are on the wrong side of the United States Constitution and all the basic principles that this country was founded on.
The police have become an occupying military force in our own country. They are the enemy. Saying not all police are bad, is not helping. Thats like saying not all of the German Nazis were bad. It doesn't help anything.
The only way to get our freedom back is to defund them.
I think you might want to rethink what you said...
Can you pass a multi-faceted background... drug test (on-going)... written and oral psych exam... polygraph and voice stress analyzer,, medical exam.. oral interview board.. run a pat test,, go to an academy ..pass it,, get through probation... have a supervisor review your every action and get videotaped or videotape yourself for them?
Police today are some of the most rigorously tested public servants there are ...
People like you worry me as a policeman because I know with your preconceived notions that my encounter with you may end badly..
Really sick...
The standards have been lowered so much the past 10 years and it]s starting to show
There's no defense for people not hating the cops . They're sick minds are a natural for keeping good people under control .I think the Government is paranoid and schizophrenic they need these animals to keep the people scared and not to speak up .
The cops are just tools of a sick government .
To see another case of police brutality in Philly go to philly.com. two cops involved in beating a man for no reason, but people say that it's rare for a cops to do things like this . If it's so rare why are two cop in the same patrol car involved and both took part in the beating . It can't be all that rare .

I'll need to hear the whole story because many details have been left out of this. But if this guy went out of his way to mistreat someone just because he was annoyed that they were there (even if they shouldn't have been for whatever reason) he should pay a mighty price for it.
Police departments openly hire people with criminal records. Most cops have arrest records. Thats the type of people they want to hire as cops. They want to hire thug cops.
I know I'm wasting my time because you don't want to know the truth, but here goes anyway.
Do Police Officers Have Criminal Records?
Misdemeanor convictions, especially if they are more than five years old, do not typically disqualify someone from becoming a police officer. Should the person receive a misdemeanor conviction while employed as a law enforcement officer, he or she may not be terminated depending upon the severity of the offense or if it was committed while the person was acting in his or her capacity as a police officer.

Whackjob truth maybe...
Reality
You most likely won't get hired... but let's say for argument sake you smoked mj at 15.. got caught and cited for a misdemeanor... plead no contest.. got good mentoring and decided being stupid wasn't for you.... should this black mark you forever... as a dope smoker you would say hello no.... me.. I'm not sure.. I would really have to look carefully at this individual and the totality of their behavior
Reality is... get a misdemeanor and you'll get days off or fired.. no license.. fired.. DUI.. one month suspension... negative performance review.. lack of promotion
Maybe in Mayberry you might get away with this... on any larger department... no...
This poster player is an avowed police hater... always posts half truths... and about police misconduct as being common.. which is a lie
Reality... 99 percent of us love to serve you .. 1 percent are bad and need to be gone as quickly as we can find them.. you can thank unions for slowing down that process .. sometimes rightfully so... we can't just hang them immediately ... but process isn't in the minds of police haters... who won't really do anything positive to make change other than whine on CD... real change happens in the dirt and not on the internet ... all the internet does is allow nut jobs to get spun up and kill or hurt police ... as occurred recently with NYPD...
Today there will be several hundred thousand calls in the U S for police service... 99 percent will be positive or do what they are supposed to.. which is to keep peace
I think a lot of ground has been covered over the past 7 months. I've had my experiences but some of the experiences I've heard from others now are pretty surprising.
CNN had a story where the Police towed a woman's car from her driveway because they said it was derelict. It was the car she used to get to work everyday.
So many people have suffered injustices at the hands of the Police is pretty disgusting. It may have taken place in the past, but its definitely not a situation getting better, despite crime decreasing.
Fear of the Police is a reality that many people live with on a daily basis due to the type of experiences shared in the OP and many other abuses.
This is one of the, if not THE most important issue in the country right now.
