U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert Attacked With Knife - NBC News
The U.S. ambassador to South Korea, Mark Lippert, was slashed in the face and arm by a knife-wielding man Thursday morning local time (late evening Wednesday ET) in Seoul, officials said.

Lippert suffered a four-inch-long, one-inch-deep gash down the right side of his face and another cut on his arm, a hospital official said. Lippert underwent a successful three-hour surgery Thursday morning and was in stable condition," Yonsei Severance Hospital chief Chung Nam-sik told reporters.

SOUTH KOREAN activists tried to kill him. I can't understand,we're in good relations with South Korea, right? But why ambassador of our great country was attacked by korean mentally-ill person?! Where was his guards? I haven't got any words...

S**t happens anytime and anywhere. The man is lucky to be alive. I assume the Korean police are questioning the assailant.

The OP should be careful about getting the facts right, it was N. Korea that condoned the attack.
The assailant was an extreme nationalist - he had previously been arrested for throwing a piece of concrete at the Japanese ambassador.
