Did you expect that they would uphold the conviction?

Honestly, with all the flip flopping and the apparent shotty job by the investigators, this is the outcome I had hoped for. I don't think it's right to convict, overturn, and then convict again.

Thank god--justice won out, especially since the actual murderer is in jail--albeit with a much lighter sentence for 'assisting' the crazy prosecutor. What a circus.

Stick to the acquittal. It's only the 2nd time she's been acquitted of the same crime.

It was all one process. Convicted in a first trial, overturned on appeal and a new trial ordered, reinstated at that trial and overturned on this appeal. You could easily have similar happening in the USA as all the hearings are part of one process rather than being separate stand-alone trials.

Just imagine a US prosecutor playing to the gallery, for personal publicity and political advantage

I don't think that's correct. From my understanding of what I've read, the first conviction in 2009 was overturned and she was acquitted in 2011. Then an appeals court overturned the acquittal and ordered a new trial, at which she was found guilty (again). In the USA, that would be called double jeopardy.
