Starbucks takes a bold stand against the weakening American Dream. They partnered with Arizona State University to provide $30,000 worth of tuition benefits for all full and part-time employees. The students will not be required to stay at Starbucks after completion.
I'm impressed! Now that's the type of leadership we need with more of these corporations to help grow the education of the companies and the countries employees. Others need to follow this example.
Well good for their employees. Of course, the average American can't afford Starbucks coffee. Im sure the latte crowd is going to be all a-tither about this and demand Walmart and McDonald's do the same thing.
While it may be "Worth" 30K to the employee, Its not what its costing StarBucks..
Most of the 1st two year of college are low level General Ed, Classes that can be done very easily online. (At very low cost)
I'd Be winning to bet ASU is getting payed few hundred dollars or so per class. ASU Hope to make the $'s in the 3/4 year classes.
Who cares what deal Starbucks struck with ASU. Employees can get two years of their college education out of the way for FREE. Not "at a low cost", but for free.

that's the typical Starbucks glorified title for someone who majored in Art History and couldn't find a job.
