thank you, that's what I have been trying to say but people in this thread seem to think that if you do what a cop wants it's all good they will thank you, write you a ticket and send you on your way!
That's because some of the people in this thread don't have the same experiences as black people. The lives they live don't subject them to racism and profiling. They don't get it. They don't want to get it.
If someone is dying they have an absolute obligation to render first aid until medics arrive, doesn't matter what department policy says, it's common sense and a personal liability attorney's dream case

Do you not get the part about the possibility that the guy who was shot knew that this thug cop would beat him, or worse plant a gun or dope on him? Do you really think that a cop who would shoot someone in the back for running wouldn't do something like that? Do you really think that the people in the community didn't know about this guys reputation? how very naive...

ETA: Know who gets pulled over in North Chas? Everyone You go one mile over the speed limit, not wear your seat belt, not use your blinker - anything at all and you get pulled over. North Chas was once in the top 10 for the most dangerous cities in America. The community demanded the police do more. So now they pull over every freaking person if they do a single thing wrong, including having a break light out.

I don't know about South Carolina but in almost every other state first responders (i.e. police and fire) are absolutely required to have a current advanced first aid and CPR certification.

I just found that out, but I bet it will change. It looks like it varies from one agency to another. Usually each state has a peace officer standards commission that sets minimum requirements like that, very odd that they don't have one

It all depends on where you are, out here, I actually work in AZ and not CA, people in metro areas (Phoenix) get less emergency first aid training than those that work in rural areas, due to the fact that Fire/Paramedics are minutes away. I don't agree with this at all, but it is what it is. I do admit, that I can only speak for here, I have no idea what policy is in SC.

It's between IGNORANCE and Denial..just because they refuse to believe Police could do such a thing..THEREFORE in their heads..It had to be the perp/victim's fault.. That's what happens when you live and never experience what a target group deals with daily..weekly..yearly THEIR whole friggin life...
It's a shame that BAD Cops paint the good one's with the same brush..BUT it goes further than that..right to the TOP..Exonerations of any Cop who had history of doing same thing repeatedly tells the tale!! Toss up always comes down on side of COP..however..with new ability to capture BAD behaviours is making it difficult to portray the image they want regular folk to believe ...Why do you think Cops at scene demand cell phone to be turned off..or confiscate said "Smart Phone"..Obvious..Delete delete delete!!! Can't have the populations knowing how THEY CONDUCT BUSINESS!!
