Quote:
The National Institute on Drug Abuse, a US federal government research institute whose mission includes "bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction," has officially admitted that marijuana extracts can kill cancer cells.

Cannabis and Cannabinoids - National Cancer Institute

Quote:
  • Studies in mice and rats have shown that cannabinoids may inhibit tumor growth by causing cell death, blocking cell growth, and blocking the development of blood vessels needed by tumors to grow. Laboratory and animal studies have shown that cannabinoids may be able to kill cancer cells while protecting normal cells.
  • A study in mice showed that cannabinoids may protect against inflammation of the colon and may have potential in reducing the risk of colon cancer, and possibly in its treatment.
  • A laboratory study of delta-9-THC in hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) cells showed that it damaged or killed the cancer cells. The same study of delta-9-THC in mouse models of liver cancer showed that it had antitumor effects. Delta-9-THC has been shown to cause these effects by acting on molecules that may also be found in non-small cell lung cancer cells and breast cancer cells.
  • A laboratory study of cannabidiol (CBD) in estrogen receptor positive and estrogen receptor negative breast cancer cells showed that it caused cancer cell death while having little effect on normal breast cells. Studies in mouse models of metastatic breast cancer showed that cannabinoids may lessen the growth, number, and spread of tumors.
  • A laboratory study of cannabidiol (CBD) in human glioma cells showed that when given along with chemotherapy, CBD may make chemotherapy more effective and increase cancer cell death without harming normal cells. Studies in mouse models of cancer showed that CBD together with delta-9-THC may make chemotherapy such as temozolomide more effective.
I am closing the books on MJ, see no reason why NJ should not be easily available to general public.
I have seen how MJ "addiction" (regular use) treats alcohol and heroine addiction.

This has been known for some time, but shunned by prohibitionists as phooey, "stoner mumbo jumbo".

If it has no benefit, why does the government hold patents on it?

Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants
US 6630507 B1
ABSTRACT
Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and HIV dementia. Nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidoil, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention. A particular disclosed class of cannabinoids useful as neuroprotective antioxidants is formula (I) wherein the R group is independently selected from the group consisting of H, CH3, and COCH3.

Maybe it does have some health benefits in limited dosage or usage, but too many users abuse it, which detracts from any health benefits. Stoners love to use these studies to justify their vices.

It has been know that MJ is an antioxidant, but it was roomered that MJ cures censer. This is the first sign of evidence that MJ can be used to cure censer.

You would have to define use and abuse for us.

We don't always see eye to eye, but I presenting facts now. I am not quoting stoners that say MJ cures censer" This is official science published by tax money.

I can show you where MJ is used to treat addiction.
Is there better medicine for insomnia then MJ? I mean MJ is better for you then prescription strength sleeping pills. Prescription strength sleeping pills v MJ, MJ is less dangerous drug.

It's not the first sign of evidence, it the first time that the Federal Government admits that it can be helpful in curing cancers. Cannabis research has been going on for a long time outside of the U.S.A., many nations have already know this for years.

cannabis might be beneficial in treating a limited group of cancers but it is also carcinogenic and causes cancer. If cancer was the cure all wonder drug potheads claim it is why do pot smokers get cancer? Bob Marley a person who consumed generous amonut of marijuana got cancer.

I stand corrected, it's the first sign of evidence that MJ can cure censer that I have seen. It's the first link that comes from a source with undisputed credibility. This is a big deal, because the sources are credible enough.
