We always hear about the few bad apples in a police department. Are we to assume that they somehow all coincidentally ended up together in this beatdown?

Time to grow up
Time for the police to stop acting like thugs with badges. You can see one black officer wisely/correctly stepped away from the mess and did not participate while his fellow officers pounded this thug.
Sadly, these police officers did not show any intelligence, self-control or logic. That is what we as taxpayers should be paying them for but they failed the public trust when they stooped to this criminal/thug's level.
Tip of the hat to the officer who had enough self-control to step aside. Because of the mob mentality of these officers the thug who fled the police will be awarded a ton of money.
I don't condone police brutality at all, but on the other hand you've seen a grand total of two minutes of what these officers have to face day after day after day, year after year after year... Maybe you'd prefer for them to go easy on him and risk a continuation of the affray or possibly even the perp turning on one of them and causing harm or death? Interestingly enough American pop culture has produced innumerable examples of the rogue cop(s) using the "beatdown" or excessive lethal force to deal with criminals, and considering how popular these programs/movies have been, there's obviously widespread support for the behaviour. Or is it different when it actually happens for real?

The FBI has opened a civil rights investigation into the incident. All officers involved have been put on leave until further notice. The funny thing - if there is a funny thing - is that the officers didn't realize the helicopter above them was a news copter and not a police copter.
