This is very sad news indeed. I made this thread to see what others felt about this matter.

I know this will sound callous, but I find it hard to work up too much concern about this. Europe is being invaded by Third World barbarians who are bent on subjugating or killing the indigenous inhabitants and eradicating their culture and instead imposing their own backwards way of life. If some of these invaders die in the attempt, it can only be a benefit to Europe.

The Europeans need to send proper ships to shuttle these people from Africa to Europe.

This! I wish America/Europe would say NO to immigrating for any of these people. Call me callous if you wish but so long as these people can so easily come to our countries and get amazing benefits better than those that were born and raised here can there will be much less focus on fixing THEIR countries!

But the bleeding hearts would rather give all these people free room and board then making them have NO CHOICE but to either make their own countries better or deal with the ****hole country they are from.

Imagine how fast things would change if every European/North American country absolutely forbid any kind of refugees or aid of ANY KIND? I know if I were in charge that's exactly what I would do, no foreign aid of any kind, no accepting of any refugees of any kind, make THEM deal with the mess they have made and clean it up!

Well, what do you think can be done about it? These people are illegal immigrants. Nobody is forcing them to get into rickety boats. Just as Mexicans are willing to swim the Rio Grande (and quite a few drown), they are willing to take their chances to get into Italy. Europe has no jurisdiction in North Africa so cannot stop them trying to make the crossing and Europe is not big enough to take all the potential immigrants that want to enter.

But if you have a solution I am sure we would all be glad to hear it.

I posted this to get opinions, just as anyone posts a thread. I do not have a magic wand where I can wipe away such a tragedy. I personally find it heartbreaking, I understand not everyone feels the same way.
