I apologize if this has been shared already, but I couldn't find it, so I figured I'd post just in case.

News media releases and info and important websites on Texas vet who killed cat - Greenville Cats | Examiner.com

Since a Texas veterinarian posted the photo of a cat shot with a bow and arrow, the post has gone viral and outrage in the animal advocacy community can be felt around the world. This article will post a few updates, along with website links to keep up on the latest information on this case.

The situation began when Kristen Lindsey, veterinarian for Washington Animal Clinic in Brenham, posted the photo of herself holding a dead cat with an arrow through the head to her Facebook page late Thursday evening. Her post read

"My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it's head! Vet of the year award ... Gladly accepted."

Stray cats are the number one carrier of rabies to humans. Is it illegal to bow hunt in his state?

It wasn't a stray cat. It was a neighbor's domesticated pet.

Was it on her property? Feral cats are nasty.

I'd argue that feral dogs are worse. Not only do they get into dumpsters and carry disease, but they are also much more dangerous.

It's illegal to kill a cat in Texas, whether domesticated, stray, or feral with very limited defenses to prosecution.

She very publicly announced that she killed it because (she thought) it was feral.

Therefore, her actions were illegal and she might yet get prosecuted.

There are legal ways to deal with your neighbor's pets, but arrows are not among them.

Most veterinarians become vets out of a fondness for animals. That doesn't mean they won't put an animal down - but such acts are unfortunate and unpleasant duties that they know are sometimes the best of several bad options. They don't enjoy doing it.

I've never heard of a vet that puts down an animal, then takes a selfie and posts it on Facebook.

This woman? This isn't someone who found killing this cat either unfortunate or unpleasant. Look at her. Look at her proudly hoisting up her kill. Look at her smile. It's obvious that she thoroughly enjoyed putting an arrow through this cat's brain and killing it.

Oh, and as for this so-called feral cat? Its name was Tiger. It was the pet of an elderly couple. It had been missing for less than a day when this vet killed it.
Vet fired after killing elderly couple’s cat with arrow, proudly posting it to Facebook | FOX6Now.com

Just curious - why do some of you immediately fall all over yourselves to excuse this behavior?

Glad to read she has been fired. Absolutely sickening. I can only imagine how the owners of the pet must feel seeing that picture.

If it was on his property I don't see the issue.
