oh boy, here we go again.

The family of Michael Brown has filed a civil lawsuit against the city of Ferguson under Missouri's "wrongful death statute," family attorney Benjamin Crump said in a statement Thursday.

The suit seeks $75,000 in damages, in addition to attorney fees.

In addition to the city, the suit also names Officer Darren Wilson, whose fatal shooting of Brown has been ruled justified, and former Police Chief Thomas Jackson, who resigned last month.

Wilson "unjustifiably shot and killed (Brown), using an unnecessary and unreasonable amount (of) force in violation of (Brown's) constitutionally guaranteed right to life," the lawsuit states.

The suit further accuses Wilson of "destroying evidence and interfering with the investigation" -- and a former supervisor, his fiancee, of turning a blind eye -- by washing blood off his hands and bagging the gun he used to shoot Brown.

Don't see this getting anywhere either after the federal government's own report essentially backed up Wilson's account of events and discredited Dorian Johnson and the other "his hands were up" groupies just as local investigators had done.

Lower threshold in a civil lawsuit but even then I think this is a weak case although the amount is low enough that the city might just go ahead and settle to avoid a whole crapload of legal fee's fighting it.

They are probably hoping that Ferguson will settle which is why they have set the damages they are asking for fairly low. $75k is not a lot and it might easily cost that much or more just to defend the action. My guess is that they would take $25k plus attorney fees and walk away.

And in doing so, Crump and Parks would have something to thump their chests over. "Yeah, we got them to pay up, they know they did wrong!"

It is becoming a cottage industry.

Crump has become the epitome of an ambulance chaser.

No surprise here. And their lawyer will get most of the money, if any is awarded on this shooting which was already proven justified.

Neither did OJ. If it goes to trial and you get enough morons on that jury anything can happen.

$75k in damages?

This suit has one purpose: to bring Darren Wilson out into the open and anyone who gave the DoJ testimony supporting part of his story.

They don't get a dime. When is his step father being prosecuted for inciting a riot?
