It sells papers, magazines and gets clicks on the internet.... They run with whatever sells. That's how it works.

Are you forgetting that he was a famous athlete in the 70s?

Even if he wasn't affiliated with the Kardashians, they would have mentioned his transitioning in the media, albeit not as much.

At first I wasn't going to watch the Diane Sawyer interview, but was going thru Hulu and saw it there and thought "What the heck"". I felt so sorry for the guy. He said he had felt that way since a small child and had even gone out dressed as a girl in his childhood. It was definitely a taboo subject back in the 50's, 60's, 70's etc and there was little information out there. It must have been bewildering and hard. Even now many condemn those who are transgendered and there are a lot of suicides, murders, beatings and other things suffered by those dealing with this issue. He seemed upbeat in the interview, his kids were also interviewed (by their choice) and his family seems to have accepted his transition and is wishing him well on it.

I think he/she should rename herself "Jenna Jenner". It has a nice ring to it !

i respect his decision to try to live as his/her authentic self - hopefully his/her openness will help younger folks struggling with this. But, I do find it odd that he/she wants to continue down the reality show path as his new "self". Seems a bit like self exploitation to me. Why not just live your life, without the need to be video taped 24/7? Of course this is a society who cannot get enough of reality TV, no matter how tedious. I hope he/she finds contentment but under the continous spotlight, it seems unlikely.

I'm curious why you said *even* ESPN has to publish it? Long before being part of the Kardashian family, he was the most popular athlete in the world and an Olympic gold medalist. If this happened to Michael Phelps in a few decades, I'd think that the sports networks would report on it.

I'm not to familiar with that pit of vipers, but is Kimmy taken? I think Kimmy Kardashian would work since all their names start with K.

That Bruce Jenner has decided against gender reassignment surgery speaks volumes.

Shaving his Adam's apple, pulling his pony tail out to let his long hair swing free, letting the paparazzi catch a glimpse of him skulking about in a dress, dabbing his tears with a tissue...

This is all well and good and I suspect a good lead up to his reality show and a gig on Dancing with the Stars.

But gender reassignment surgery is where the rubber meets the road.
