Looks to me like, even if Baltimore can't provide all of its officers with bodycams, there should be an immediate move to put them in police wagons.

I don't understand why cops wouldn't WANT this.

If I was a cop, I'd want cameras EVERYWHERE.

The only cops who don't want it are the bad ones.

The cops even fabricated some bogus story that he was carrying a switchblade.

What male do you know of in the year 2015 is STILL carrying a switchblade (of all things) other than serial killers owning white vans?

I honestly didn't even know they made switchblades anymore and no one I knows carries them.

This 'witness' didn't see what was going on, according the Chief of Police, by the time they stopped a second time to transport another arrestee, FG was in distress and not breathing.

What this alleged witness might have heard could be the officers panicking when they realized FG wasn't breathing.

Seems body cams & cameras would be much cheaper than all the payouts & payoffs for injuries & lawsuits for excessive force.

And really if you are a good cop, doing things by the book, cameras would be your friends.

I never said nor suggested that, and have no idea how you extrapolated that from my post. Stop projecting for me. My post pointed out a lack of following protocol by the BPD that may have in fact contributed to his injuries. I have no idea what happened other than what little facts have been released, because I wasn't there, and the investigation is not complete. It's foolish to speculate too deeply at this point.

An article published Wednesday in The
Washington Post said the prisoner who was sharing the police
transport van with Freddie Gray told investigators he believed Gray “was
intentionally trying to injure himself” by “banging against the walls” of the
vehicle, according to a police document.


The Post obtained an investigative document
showing the unnamed prisoner was separated from Gray by a metal partition and
could not see him.
