Islam is veryy much based upon personal responsibility. We alone are responsible for what we believe, we are not to believe any teacher of leader, unless we our self have verified the truth of what they teach.

ISIS has their own flavor of Islam. It appears to be a very redical form of Wahabbi, which was declared a heresy 200 years ago when Mohammad Wahabb introduced it as a new madhab of Sharia.

Actual Sharia follows one of the 4 Madhabs (Maliki, Hanafi, Hanbali or Shafi'i) under Sharia law there is no earthly punishment for apostasy unless the apostasy entails an act of treason.
"which was declared a heresy 200 years ago when Mohammad Wahabb"
Who declared it Heretical? I thought Wahhabism was the current Saudi Version of Islam that is pushed in all of the schools they fund around the globe.

A question was asked, I hope I answered the Question.

The topic of what or who a Muslim is and what Islam is. Does seem to be a very integral part of this thread.

When moderate Muslims (basically, non pious or non practicing in my book) try to convince us that it is only a small percentage of its followers are what would be considered Islamists or jihadists, say, only 10% (which we all know is a wildly conservative number) the 160,000,000 remaining bat sh*t crazy, violent extremists ready to kill for their religion by that definition doesn't ease my mind at all.

It's like the family of 12 up the street where most are perfectly kind folks but there are those two child rapists living there as well that we are supposed to be ignoring.

I think Texas was the wrong place that these terrorists should have declared Jihad.

Indeed. Texans don't take kindly to a) uninvited party crashers and b) jihadists.

So? Are you more concerned with the jihadists (and don't capitalize jihadists, mkay?) sensitivities to mockery than you are for freedom of speech? ... Or is it that you you've caved in fear to what they might do if we anger them?

Yes you should. You should do it precisely because it pisses off these medieval sociopaths. You don't take a step back from these kinds of neanderthals. You step up and if that means drawing a picture of Muhammad eating a Carl's Jr Western Bacon Cheeseburger wearing a gay pride shirt then you draw that picture and you do it with gusto to show them you aren't afraid.

I can see you're a proponent of caving in fear. Well don't worry ... those among us who AREN'T afraid will keep you safe.

This is one of those difficult things to support in my eyes. You are waving a red cap in front of a bull. On the other hand no one gets killed when similar groups have Jesus dunked in Pe. Going to have to support their right to free speech if your going to treat both religions equally.

Yep, If it happened in SF it could have been a blood bath. They probably didn't consider the average Texas LE officer learning to shoot before they could walk.
